The police called for an ambulance. Cops in our country do not carry the injectibles needed to help those in an OD status. I have not seen any poster suggest that anyone should be allowed to be executed in the streets. Why do you bring up the color of someone's skin? You really think if GF was a big white dude doing the same thing that they would have found a more humane way to restrain him? Again, what would that process look like?

Restraint from what? He was handcuffed and on the ground. How was his asphyxiation from Chauvin's knee on his neck a necessary part of that process?

There is a long history in the US of the police treating whites differently from blacks. The black community knows that. You must have missed their protests last year.

I don’t subscribe to the notion that you have to have a perfect solution to know that actions taken were unacceptable.

Do you think it is customary for four police officers to wait with a person needing an ambulance ? With three of them holding the person down? Take a guess why they had to restrain him.

The protests last summer were awful and it's unfortunate that those would happen over situations like what happened with GF and Jakob Blake. I'm okay with peaceful protests but the violence and destruction is not helpful. Solutions are helpful. You know what else is helpful? Following simple police commands!

I'm sorry that it frustrates you that I can easily see this was irresponsible policing without having to offer up the perfect way to handle it. That's the truth.

If what was happening was "customary" we wouldn't be seeing the officers involved facing criminal charges.

When you say, "take a guess" why they had to restrain him, that's exactly what you are doing - guessing. He wasn't armed and posing a threat to their lives or anyone else's. Oh, yeah - he might have passed off a fake 20 dollar bill . .

I'll add to this: the majority of people on the streets existed some where on a spectrum between [absolute ignorance of the details] <-> [uncontrollably emotionally-driven].

As a society, we need to get better at understanding the various phenotypes of our current population. We're always going to have a segment of society, existing in all economic and cultural stratification, that are going to be irrational and create unnecessary headaches. It is the responsibility of ordinary people to not give this slice of society credibility and certainly to not give them access to power in any form.

Not to understate it, they're bad people - there is no other way to put it - and you'll see and realize what I'm talking about when the burning begins again after the acquittal - watch for how they try to convince you what they're doing it right.

Also, your quick-to-emotions and confrontational daughter who made you pay for her social work masters degree is part of the problem.

Most of those "ignorant people" were black Americans with personal experience of policing in a white culture. You must really miss the Confederacy.
