Nick Willis and Mary Cain to run for Tracksmith

Thank you. Totally agree. Why does it seem like pretty much everything is now viewed through some hyper-political lens? Why is this a social justice play? Jeez, people, relax. Personally, I blame Trump for this as much as anyone else, as nothing seems to happen in the world without it somehow being a conspiracy against him or proof of his greatness. Maybe this is just Tracksmith hiring two relatively well-known runners as full-time marketing employees (OMG, at a running brand? Who can believe it?!). No more, no less. Regardless of your political bent, hiring employees and the growth of a small company is supposed to be a good thing, right? Is there some reason we're supposed to be rooting against this company? And what's with all the knives coming out about Tracksmith? You guys (gals) need to get over it, and get over yourselves. If you don't like the gear and/or prices, fine. I have some of their stuff, and I like it fine. Could I find other stuff to wear that's cheaper, sure. But that's literally true of all my clothes and probably most of your clothes too. Have you all checked out Nike's or Adidas' websites lately? I just looked at Adidas.com and they have some cotton t-shirts that are more than $100. You ever hear of people spending $500 (or whatever) for certain styles of Air Jordans? Brand-name clothing, whether it be Nike or J. Crew or truly upscale designer brands, is pretty much totally about the brand, our own self-images, and/or aspirational.

This isn't much different than what Brian Sell was doing with Home Depot.

1. Mary Cain will never reach her former level. Period.

This does not make her a bad person. I have never met her and can therefore not comment on her character. She developed breasts and hips, and combined with her mechanics, this fact renders her no longer competitive.

2. She got this job because of her NYtimes notoriety, and kudos to tracksmith for capitalizing on her appeal to the demographic that reads nytimes articles.

3. I am fascinated by how many real dollars tracksmith inc gains by signing these two compared to joe blow. I am fascinated by their business model in general; How big is the premium -priced, made in Asia, NE-prep aesthetic market? I am a multimillionaire, ran D1 college track, think nick Willis is awesome, and would never buy this stuff. $70 nylon shorts? $80 running t shirts?

OTOH I am not a hater: I hope any running related business succeeds.

4. Did Brian Sell ever become a dentist?

First time hearing about this brand. I really like their designs and the quality looks great. Has anyone on here purchased from this brand? Interested in knowing whether the fabrics are high quality before I purchase. Thanks

the mistake people make with tracksmith is looking only at the race singlet and shorts.

they look at those and think 'Dolfin 1981 ewww' and walk away laughing.

But look over the company's full catalogue - it's way more interesting and cool than that.

Funny you say that, because I heard it was due to the fact that many of the Central Park TC athlete's wore the free VaporFlys at the trials instead of their New Balance sponsor... And that they are only getting a discount from Tracksmith, not a full sponsorship for the team.

Source? I heard it was a full sponsorship the same as New Balance...which means race gear and race/training shoes+an overall discount

Regarding Willis, does Tracksmith have a company policy if porn is viewed through the company computer?

I have Nike stuff I bought 14 years ago that is still in near perfect condition. The stuff lasts.

I wear the session pants and downeaster hoodie all the time. The pants are light and stretchy and comfortable, maybe not totally unique but I have similar in Nike and Asics and my wife thinks the tracksmith fits better. :-) Probably even better is their merino blend stuff like the downeaster and harrier tops. Light, soft and comfortable. I also haven't been shy about returning stuff that I didn't like or didn't think was worth the money. I think I tried two different running shorts and wasn't blown away, and also a jacket (can't remember which one). They make it pretty easy to print out a label and put it back in the mailbox.
