Yes, they would need to make a profession of faith if they wanted to join.
A political statement on whether abortion should be legal is not a requirement for church membership. Is such a statement required in your church?
I will say that your particular church is being hypocritical- I don't believe the majority supports killing unborn babies. Trump holds conservative values which also meshes with the Catholic church. My church pastor has spoken out against abortion and it's more than just political statement. It is a more importantly a moral issue.
If a person decides to become a member in my church, it is required to profess faith in Christ. Baptism is NOT a requirement for us. However, as Jesus did the same, we as Christians should do it and follow Christ's example.
Trump does not hold conservative values. Trump is a hedonist. His only value is, "I'll do or say whatever is to my advantage." He was pro-abortion when it was to his advantage and anti-abortion when it was to his advantage.
I doubt there are many, if any, in my church who support abortion on demand. But reasonable people can disagree on exactly what the laws should be about that.
A true conservative would say that it's none of the government's business what a woman chooses to do wither her own body. But on abortion, the political world is turned upside down.
I personally think the government does have a role to play.
