Breaking my word on my last post being my last post on this thread because I see a specific question directed to me.
I didn't modify the 2Q plan - my plan is a derivative of his Training Plan A from the 2nd edition of his book. I think I end up at 14 or so on the longer midweek days (longer once in a while because of how I had to rearrange some weeks because of race plans).
And David S Pumpkins - I was first male masters, but I got "chicked" by Deena Kastor. I was right on her right up until I wasn't.
Getting beat by the American record holder. Happens to the best of us.

He was definitely on track. He was running 6:30s and 6:40s the last few miles after being misdirected.

His 32k split was 2:22. Even if the mat wasn't in the right place - say it was closer to 33k - that's still well off sub 3 pace.

Got the JD book a few days ago. So far, some of it is common sense, some of it I have heard before, and some of it is truly informative. Many more pages to go.
Ran three times so far this week and will probably run one more day (tomorrow) for the week. Felt good in a 6.5-miler on Wednesday. Ran some tempo...7:12, 6:54, 6:52, 6:52, 6:32, 6:41. So, I guess you can say I hammered that one. Went long today and ran 13.13 miles. If I could, I would run a half marathon (or more) every time out. I love long runs. They are like medicine.
Just thought I would give an update and send along some Christmas cheer.

Instead of your tempo run, you could try one of Jack's T workouts (see page 56). You can program his workouts into you Garmin watch by the way, using the Garmin Connect website.

My 2016 finished on a good note. Ran a 5k today in 19:14. My right IT band has been tight, and so I ran only three days this week. Could have perhaps pushed a tad harder in today's 5k, but I was happy with the effort and did not want to mess too much with the tight IT band.
