Has Stu Greaves come up in this thread yet? I’m not looking through all the pages of this thing to double-check, but he’s a former 2:22 marathon runner now going for his 50th marathon at age 68. He’s run a couple parkruns sub 21 min recently, and wants to go sub 20 like you Jan. Might be good motivation / inspiration.

it comes pretty quickly when you're starting back up after a long hiatus. Think about kids you get in cross country who haven't done a single thing all summer. Day 1 vs 4 or 5 weeks in can be a drastic change.
wow, you have really dragged yourself down to Jan's level with this absurd post. comparing a kid in top form having a lazy summer to a mid 60s bloke who has been fat and lazy for years is asinine.

What a strange comment ? 🤔
I think it was a very good comparision example to just visualize how fast shape before the hiatus comes back when take up serious training again. And well, I can even think it's more impressive to fast reach shape again like this after 26 years without serious training at age 66 when all the energy systems are supposed to be slowed down remarkably? 🤔

jan, remember you havent actually done these times. in your one tt you went out too fast and blew up spectacularly.
is everyone with 'coach' in their monicker delusional?
Jan, seriously, i wish you luck, but your dancant system is heading in exactly the same way it always does.

Hello stalker! 🖐😎 Well, as always you are wrong! 😉
In my TT 26:30 min I never went out to fast. It was even pace all the way. But I admit it was a tough one after so many years without longer fast running. Now that pace feels like a walk in the park. I'm sure I would run 23:30 in a race now but will soon test a TT again and 24:30 min. 🧙♂️

No, you said you went out at 25 time and ended at 26:30. How can you be a coach and not know about splits?

have you ever stopped running for even a year and then tried to come back?
well, i stopped running for around 10 years after school before starting back up. I know exactly how quickly improvements CAN come. It's all gone. but much of it returns VERY quickly.
a lot of people let their hatred of Jan cloud reality. Or at least cloud what the reality of what is possible.
you certainly don't even have to believe he's doing everything that he's putting in this thread. but it's all possible.

Well, he actually said going into that he was shooting for 25. but after he did it, he said he thought better of it and shot for 26:30 from the start.
which is believable. I've actually last minute re-evaluated my training at race time and decided to go conservative. AKA, I wimped out. back of your head you're hoping it's easy and you can crank it up as you go. But for me, it turned out my last second instinct was correct. And it certainly could have been same for Jan.

Hello scammer! 🖐😎 In the first post of this thread you claimed to be in 25 min shape. One month later you almost died running 26:30 The power of dancan! You get slower and slower! It's like magic. 🧙♂️

Ahaha! Longtime stalker of mine, why don't try out a bit more ' originality' in your comments and not just copy my way of writing? Back then I thought I was around 25 min shape when I hadn't proof from my training results as now when I see for sure I' m in 23:30 shape. Now about 2 months training with my Dancan it's obvious to most people followed I have done a quite amazing improvement. 😎🧙♂️🇸🇪
So, a nice well controlled 18 x 1 min @ 4:30 pace and 50- 70 sec rest back to 120 bpm today . It's quite amazing I so easily can cruise in this pace so effortless after little more than 2 months into this comeback. 🇸🇪🧙♂️🇸🇪😎🏃
And here I go again on my own Going down the only road I've ever known Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone And I've made up my mind I ain't wasting no more time But here I go again Here I go again Here I go again Here I go
And I've made up my mind I ain't wasting no more time
Here I go again on my own Going down the only road I've ever known Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone
'Cause I know what it means To walk along the lonely street of dreams

No offense Jan, but 1 minute walk/run intervals say nothing about potential 5k fitness.

Try tell that to the world top runners!? 😃 The 1 min reps at individual 5 k race pace raise the energy process efficiency and the biomechanical efficiency at that pace . Repeated week after week after week, together with lactate thresholds and easy steady running, it makes the runner to guaranteed improve.🧙♂️
