Not sure - there is an alienation factor on both sides, but in reality most voters are not following politics at all and likely not even hearing about this stuff. It comes down to the current leader either being bearable or not, and the changes in people’s personal situations. If someone loses their job or experiences some other negative life event they may more easily turn to media to find political scapegoats.

An EV has only about 25 moving parts, compared to hundreds in a gas car. So there is practically no wear and tear on an electric car, except cosmetic items like scratches. Even brake pads don't wear out because you rarely use friction braking. The thing that determines the lifetime of an EV is the battery. For instance Tesla batteries typically last 300,000 to 500,00 miles.
My Bolt EV battery has about 108,000 miles on it. So when Chevy gives me a new battery with zero miles on it, I will basically be getting a new car for free.

This is good news. It means that EV's are becoming popular enough that third party EV repair shops are popping up. EV's rarely need repairs but it's nice to know that we have choices, which will bring down the price of repairs if and when they are needed.
My own experience with Tesla service was outstanding and was far better than you can get with a gas car. A piece of the interior needed a minor mechanical adjustment. Since it was under warranty, I contacted Tesla to have it fixed. But instead of wasting my time traveling many miles and waiting hours at a dealership, they came to me and fixed it in my driveway. The whole repair experience took about 10 minutes.
