Most people know very little about Kamala Harris and have not formed much of an opinion.
I expect Biden to run again and win again.
But if not, Harris will run against a very strong field. That will give her time to either prove herself as a candidate or we will nominate someone even better.
No matter what, if Trump runs he will be trounced even worse than in 2020. He might not even be able get the Republican nomination.

I agree that Biden will run again and might win (too early to say), but people have basically made up their minds about Harris. Despite all the media (especially CNN) throwing their weight behind her, she dropped out of the primary in December 2019 with only 3% of the vote. She was then chosen for VP due to her race and gender only. (Biden already promised to pick a woman, but then the BLM movement took off so he had to pick a black woman, which left him no choice.) After nominating her she was quickly considered "toxic" by the campaign and they wisely hid her til after the election. Everything she does as VP is a PR disaster. Her net approval ratings are a good ~20 percentage points lower Biden's.

Consumers of right wing media know more about her than Democrats.
Outside the Fox/Newsmaxx/OAN bubble, Harris gets very little coverage and I doubt that many have formed much of an opinion. The PR disasters you speak of only happen inside the bubble where they don't matter to anyone who would ever vote for her.

If Trump is the nominee then he will be the nominee of a much smaller Republican party.
Trump has never done anything to increase his base. And his base keeps dying off. Meanwhile, more and more young, Democratic voters are becoming active. Think about how much this dynamic will play out over four years as long as Trump controls the Republican party.
So Republicans know they will lose if Trump heads the ticket. That means losing a lot of down ballot races as well. There is nothing like a guaranteed loss to keep people from playing the game. More and more potential candidates will choose to either not run or try to form a third party of traditional Republicans.
The future of conservatism looks bleak.
