I just looked up finanacials of Tyler Robinson Foundation. It is not even rated by charity rating sites. It basically has one employee taking salary of $50K for the year of 2014. It raised $658,119 and gave away as grants $199,327 spending $342,676 on expenses (not including grants). Despite their fancy website, there is nothing major going on here. More than half of their revenue came from a music band that was collecting donations on its behalf at their conert ($263,183).

It's not clear why this is not getting more scrutiny. Essentially, if you donate $100 through Rob Y to help the children through this charity, less than $30 actually goes to the children, and the other $70 gets wrapped into these nebulus expenses like "special events" and "general expenditures." It would be very interesting to see where those funds are flowing.

It's legal but it, fortunately, isn't very normal. You can find a wide range of charities through charitynavigator and AIP that provide 60-98% to 'the cause' as opposed to admin. 30% is pretty terrible.

And honestly, that 30% is for "grants".

Grants to do what?

A grant could involve sending so-and-so on a "mission of mercy" involved with running some crazy event in order to further 'raise awareness'.

This isn't true at all. This would rate them as an "F" by the Charity Watch for this percentage breakdown. They are in lowest rung of charities for efficiency.

You can't tar everyone with the same brush, however, the first thing I didn't quite like when I first saw all this was his egotistical, narcissistic and presumptuous moniker 'marathonmanUK', [emphasis on 'UK'] with the implication he was some sort of representative of the UK or the best in the UK or...well, whatever he thought he was.

Melissa Hadfield Quick questions, why does the Dr report you posted say 5th toe (little one), but you are saying big toe? I'm not doubting you have damaged a toe, just seems odd that a Dr would diagnose the wrong toe as fractured... It sounds like the sort of misdiagnosis thing that people can sue over.

Wow, that's pretty one-sided in the comments, really surprised Rob hasn't gotten his useful idiots on Facebook to chime in for him.

I don't see how they leave it like that, the CEO has to respond (or purge the comments).

You know, that is the part of this I've been most struggling to try and

figure out. According to MarathonManUK lore, he spent everything getting

through his 370 'marathons' - to the chagrin of his fiance whose challenge

motivated him to do it (you can read all this in the excerpt of his book on

Amazon UK).

Then somehow he's in a transcon stage race that had to be an expensive

undertaking - and he's jetting back and forth across the Atlantic in the

middle of it to go home and run other races. Okay, maybe that was all part

of the original 'spending it all.' This latest cross-country joyride

couldn't have been cheap either though. Add on the expenses of hosting

websites, setting up a book for publication, and (if you believe it) buying

social media followers. Who's paying for all that? I think we know there's

not that much money in sponsorships (unless Skins is very generous).

Is he selling that many copies of his book?

Is he getting those sorts of 'expenses' covered through charitable

donations?

Does he get speaking honoraria?

Is he actually some moneyed blue-blood doing this on a lark?

Is his fiancé/wife working and supporting the whole deal?

... or maybe his 'mates' (who have to be expecting a payoff too)?

I just can't make sense of it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think his brand

is that well established yet. I think this is still in the

startup/investment stage and I don't understand where the investment is

coming from.

The dude is a serial bum. In the blog for the joyride, he mentions getting free food at restaurants, free laundry and shower at some random house, etc. In his book, he mentions getting discounts and help from hotels, race directors, etc. Dude is a serial bum.
