The genius of Biden is that he is fixing the country and delivering results (aka winning more future votes) while ensuring you idiots continue to drown in your sorrow and delusion about trump coming back. You should be demanding actual policies from your R leaders to compete with Biden because the GQP has nothing to offer to on-the-fence and new voters. As for Biden, you and most tzees like you won't ever actually watch a full speech or long interview to decide for yourselves. You are going to let FOX clips and headlines determine Biden for you because it's better than owning your loss and moral decline. You lost. How easily you forgot how Biden obliterated you low-IQ hero on live tv last election. But yes, focus on his gaffes and FOX clips - surely that'll deliver trump back and ensure Biden loses!

Wow - the word "staggering" was used by a DOJ official describe the % growth in gun homicides in LA and NY (while actual numbers remain historically low still), so FOX puts that word in a headline and you go crazy claiming it's a rise in violent crime all over the country!!! Quick, run for cover!

I agree 100%, except that I said they were helpless, not hopeless. You are right that they are brave and hard-working and full of hope. We need more people like that in our country.

That's a good question for Gary. There was a time, a few years back when things were a bit more normal, when you were dismiss Gary as just some crazy extremist troll. But things are different now. Gary's beliefs and approach reflects that of numerous Americans. If we continue to ignore it, our democracy will continue to erode.

I don't think that that things have been "normal" since whatever early point in the Trump administration one wants to pick as the time when most reasonable, hopeful people would have agreed that Trump wasn't going to "grow into the job," and was going to continue to lie to our faces every day. And it just got worse and worse and worse, and we realized that the Rs weren't going to draw a line ANYWHERE. And when you thought it couldn't get worse, it did, and his approval numbers continued to stay about the same. Over and over again. And then he did THE worst thing, trying to steal an election, and a few went against him for a very short period of time.....and then changed their minds.

Responsible people largely haven't ignored this HUGE problem, threatening our democracy. But they, just like me, continue to have no idea how anyone or anything it might change it significantly anytime soon?

And those of you reading this who are a true part of this problem - and not just here to get a rise out of people - should be absolutely, positively f***** ashamed of yourselves. Damaging the sh** out of democracy and honesty and decency in our country is NOT defensible because you don't like a few (or many, or all) liberal policies. News flash: Plenty of conservatives in this country (like me) don't like many of those policies, either, but they know what is more important. They don't convince themselves that up is down because some blatant, pathalogical liar told them so. So why do you?

This is exactly why I left the republican party and registered as an independent. The party is over-run with conspiracy whack jobs that no longer believe in democracy and appear to want an autocratic monarchy headed by the former guy. That is worst than communism or any hypothetical socialist policies that the MAGAcrowd say they are afraid of that would warrant a coup and over throw of US democracy. I could not abide by that.

Though the attached only has complete stats through 2019, it does illustrate that overall rates of crime and rates of violent crime are indeed "historically very low": less than half of what they were at their "peak" during the elder Bush's administration. They've been dropping pretty steadily for decades.

Biden is a great president and economically, he brought us back to Near precovid levels. I think He is much more sane than any vocal republican leader and he is much more reasonable than the activist democrats. Biden hits the sweet spot. He has never supported the defund the police movement and he has lead democrats away from that loser idea. You barely here it anymore. He is not for open borders but wants a pathway to citizenship. After 20 years he finally is getting us out of Afghanistan. If not now when, after another 20 years? Thank you Joe!

I don't agree with everything he does and some positions could hurt him politically. But what mistakes Biden and the democrats have they can always rely on an active and vocal Donald Trump destroying the Republican party. Donald Trump is the greatest gift to the democrat party. (Not the country, but the democrats have done well with him)

My examples were extreme but don't you want as president someone who is smart enough and has such a command of his job that he or she is not worried about his staff possibly getting mad at him for him getting something wrong? He should have great confidence that whatever he chooses will be the right choice and should never worry that his staff will get mad at him for making the wrong choice.

Sorry, can't answer: I'm not a Dem. In fact I have never (not once) cast a ballot on the Democratic line--for any office, in any election--in a half-century as a voter.

Though the lock-'em-up policies of the Clinton years may have had long-term effects--in that very few incarcerated men were fathering children with a genetic/situational predisposition toward crime--I genuinely think that Roe v. Wade (1973) has been an important factor in the continuing decline of crime rates under both Dem and GOP presidents: fewer unwanted children born into difficult circumstances ==> fewer crimes. (So we'll see whether the GOP-led abortion restrictions show up in higher crime rates in the later part of this decade and beyond. I'm doubtful.)

But I *am* interested to see what the 2020 numbers (won't be final until nearly the end of this year, I believe) and 2021 numbers will show. I would expect a considerable drop in crime for 2020 and would not be suprised to see an increase in 2021: fewer people out and about last year, many more (with pent-up "demand") this year.

A confounding factor in 2021 could be the rapidly-improving economy, though: During more prosperous times the crime rates seem somewhat more likely to drop. So the final figures for 2021--which are at least two years away, I guess--will be interesting.

You don't need to wait two years for FBI statistics or academic papers to see crime is on the rise, you can go out and see it.
