These people feel they have been losing for years, even generations. They got the worst end of the identity politics stick, as they have been voting consistently against their own interests for too long and it has worsened their situation.
- less gov't involvement/less regulation = their R leaders don't need to work to keep their jobs and were allowed to be openly corrupt. Financial disasters under R leadership.
- leave rich people alone/bs trickle down = look at the wealth gap and the absurd legal advantages that have been granted to the 1%... all of that has to come at someone's expense, and the R base has felt the brunt of it
- anything not seeming to be American style capitalism is socialism/communism = the R base has permanent blinders on and refuse to self analyze or look beyond our borders to understand that perhaps we are not close to being the best at everything and need to improve dramatically. Again the ultra rich and greedy companies benefit the most on the back of hard working americans.
- guns, lots of guns = more gun deaths everywhere. We've lost all common sense on this topic and there is no helping it without a broad federal government role.
- abortions = backwards country with way too many people still wanting to control others' bodies and decisions for them.. result is many more unwanted births that Rs end up paying for indirectly through taxes and down the road see issues in their communities through broken homes/families.
All of this means that americans (and arguably even more so Rs) who were already struggling to keep up with the ever changing job market/economy have even less financial security and top of that little health protection and personal safety.
It goes back to most of them being simpletons - way too gullible and naturally suspicious of change (conservatives). The GOP has been scapegoating and gaslighting all these years instead of actually helping them. They left them behind and fed them with hate and fear. Then they gave them trump and their addiction to hate and fear sky rocketed. They feel he is all they have got.
In the end, these masses of losers will be even worse off and totally desperate. They are not going to get their savior - trumpism is a dead end game for them and for the country. They are irretrievably lost, but their kids can still choose to be and do better if they realize trumpism and R policies have been speeding up their demise.

The climate crisis is getting more and more obvious. In the end, it's just physics. The greenhouse effect is as real as gravity and it is slowly destroying the habitability of our planet.
There is no crisis at the border. The crisis is in Central America where climate change has caused massive drought and crop failure. This has lead to an influx of refugees at our border. Thousands of poor helpless refugees do not constitute a crisis unless you are dumb enough to be scared by poor helpless refugees.
