While I was surprised with her time last week, we probably shouldn't be too surprised with her form right now. She focused on the 800 last year after having just levelled up in the 1500 just prior. Now she's cashing in on her improved speed and racing prowess she's been known for for years now.
And she's got the absolute dog in her. That helps too.
Perhaps a bit glass half full but I reckon credit to Seth for hanging in there and finishing strong. Particularly given he was dropped and others pulled out.
Yeh Abbey was due for these results since that CG bronze years back. Hopefully it's onwards and upwards.
What is interesting now is Abbey will get the mile spot for CG, but is already selected for the 800m. Looking at the schedule doubling is way too tough. What event would you pick if you were her? I'd say the mile as the 800m has Keely and probably Georgia.
The great news for Jess is the mile and 5km double is doable as she would get a few days rest after the 5km final and 1 mile heat the day before.
Lauren ran 14:53:78 in the 5km at the LA meet. Great to see her in form as her Aussie swing was disappointing.
Anyone know how our CG 5km team is looking?
Rose, Lauren, Jess, Linden, Georgia, Maudie and anyone else?
Lots of talk on the mile team but none on the 5km team. And not sure who is best placed to make the team. I'd say Jess definitely as she won nationals. Then after that who? Do we even get 3 in every event? As I know it's been well stated we are sending a smaller team.
1 week before the deadline to get results fyi

Just saw it, cracking run by Abbey, timed it well and was the best there. wonder if she will choose the 1500 over the 800. Maybe Hollingsworth would be better over 800 right now, she always struck me as. Ore if an 800 runner.
Alex Stitt 3:35 but Jesse Hunt's 3:51 wow! Hope he can figure this out.
Hunt needs to get out of OAC. It seems he had a good season coming out of college and turning pro but whatever Craig is doing with him isn't working.
It’s really bizarre. This season he’s ran:
3:58, 3:47, 3:41, 3:51
the guy has a best of 3:33. Someone of that quality should be able to run 3:45 off 3 weeks of training. Surely he wouldn’t be entering these races (and flying to the US) if he didn’t think he was in 3:38ish form at least?
