Things are going to get interesting in the after glow of the massive Ukraine counteroffensive. Russia is clearly rattled and showing signs of real desperation. Russia has been lobbing cruise missiles at Ukraine civilian targets, including electricity infrastructure and even an attempt to flood a small town by blowing up a damn/hydro facility.
Meanwhile, Wagner group (Russia's private mercenary army) has resorted to recruiting prisoners. And the list of oligarchs dying under suspicious circumstances (i.e. murdered). A group of dissenting municipal authorities who criticized Putin was fired by a local judge.
Ukraine is getting a fresh brigade of 5,000 soldiers from training in UK, is sitting on piles of abandoned ammo and equipment and getting another tranche of weapons and aid from the West.
Russia should have by now fallen back to defendable positions in the south and east along the Russian border. But it looks like Ukraine's next move may be to cut off Kherson from Crimea to try to surround RU forces and retake Kherson.
