Robert Young fakes run across America

Thanks! And well spotted. Just read that and got a shock seeing someone post as me! Guess I should probably register if I'm going to put up any more on here. Not sure there is much more I can say though. People keep asking me to provide data etc. That is up to Rob and his team. I've only been able to comment on the three times I've met him, one of those being a 14 hour run through the night. Pretty new to this forum stuff and been surprised at how much hate there is in amongst the people just genuinely wanting answers. Then this, someone masquerading as me! I really hope things will be clearer soon, either with data being published it your guys going out and running with him. I'm still confused at the original post to be honest. Why someone would not be able to keep up with an rv going at 7mph is what I can't get. If it really did turn into a car chase and he couldn't keep up, presumably that is all recorded on the tracker. Everyone applauding his investigative skills but not sure that's really PI material.

I don't buy that he's a 16-17 min parkrunner either - there's too many half marathons at around 90 minute pace. Or was he jogging and chatting for those too maybe....

David, if he's the real deal, please explain:

1. The CCTV footage of the RV crawling along with no runner seen.

2. His claimed 5k, 10k and half marathon pbs. All quite good but with no data to verify.

3. His claimed association with a pro cycling team. Info on this thread suggests this is a fraudulent claim.

4. The wonky tracking data (see info on this thread).

5. The lack of any real live-time data to back up what he is doing.

6. False info about his triathlete history.

Dude this is one of the silliest posts in this thread. And that is saying a lot.

If I want to go run near someone else who is running down a public road I am free to do so and the risk is about zero that anything is going to go wrong and that I would be responsible for it.

You must be a very cautious person.

His times seem to line up perfectly. The real pbs are 18'55 for 5km, 89'00 for the half and 3:07:40 for the full marathon

So you're saying Asher is a liar and made all this up to slander Rob. That he drove out there in the middle of the night in Kansas to get a couple poorly shot videos an invent a story. Did he also edit the security video to remove Rob? What's your theory of the motive? That Asher has something personal against Rob?

How detailed is their tracking? If they sped up for just a minute to get away from Asher, would that show up on the track?

What I want to know is the scope to cheat on the 'trans-American foot race'.

Bearing in mind the history we know of cheating in longer races, alongside the information being uncovered in this thread I believe this is a legitimate question to ask.

Drones might be loud, but not loud enough to be heared when you're inside the van. If he was actually running outside he might hear it... but chances of that are rather slim.

I've met and run with Asher many times. A greater human being I've never met. I can't believe all the people hating on him. In his spare time, he works for many charities and I know he's told me 50% of his income actually is donated every year. He had a terrible childhood and had every reason to succumb to the psychological effects of it, but he's completely risen above it.

Many times at a store, I'd see that the clerk gave him an extra penny when he received his change and every time, he gave it back.

This guy is the real deal and he would NEVER lie about what he saw. It's so unfortunate that these haters are out there. They will all be proven wrong.

No I wasn't. You said that. I was just saying I didn't get it. There may be a perfectly reasonable reason why he couldn't keep up with them, even if they sped up for a minute and then slowed back down to the run pace. It's just the facts aren't enough for me to know what actually happened and why he couldn't make contact with them. The same applies for Rob's run. It is the lack of detail and explanation that is the problem. Hopefully more will come out soon

Not sure about that particular race but for most races you are on a road in the middle of nowhere with your crew who has a vehicle. Nobody is within miles of you to see you just get in the back of the vehicle as the vehicle scoots around at 6mph. If someone does happen to sneak up on you, you just hop out and continue running. Textbook stuff, happens all the time, and there is really nothing you can do about it.

If ultra running wants to be taken seriously they have to get rid of the crews and vehicles.

Not really, it's mostly at 12 minute intervals.

I posted the tracker intervals already that corresponded to the videos.

The 1st video shows 1:46 Central Time - below tracker times are Eastern time to correlate to the video.

What’s it all about?

A solo run across the USA, my fifth coast to coast.

Why?

A fun adventure. To me it means freedom and happiness and a fantastic way to meet ordinary Americans and see the things tourists never experience; the small towns and the American countryside.

Why five times?

No run has been like the others, always different routes so it won’t be tedious. And it’s been easier for every run, my routine and experience mean a lot. Running this far and for such a long time is more of a mental than a physical challenge,

So he did compete in the European Long Course Champs and came third in his age group there. So that is that question put to bed.

Yes, I concurr with seikosha, I once ran 4 miles meters of a 200 mile race with Asher and he ran so effortlessly that at one point he was actually floating in the air while he hammered out 5:30 minute miles. After drinking a coffee he lowered his pace down to 4:45 and left me behind, though I was still close enough to see him walk across a small lake.I know Asher and he is really being affected by the doubters, so just stop with the negativity.

You and coachKev remind me of myself 20-so years ago. A buddy of OJ Simpson lived in my building and would frequently talk to OJ. He was one of the nicest, most personable people I had ever met. He remembered my name and always asked me about what I was up to. If they went out to eat he would bring me back dessert. OJ was one of the coolest guys I had ever met. And I thought he was the greatest.

So when the trial happened, I was in total disbelief and argued strongly with friends that there was no way he could do that. I even lost friends over arguments - I felt that strong of my observations of him.

As time went by he got even nicer and more thoughtful. Right after the trial he moved to Miami but whenever he came back in town he would stop by and say hello. Still, always smiling and being genuine.

But as time went on I realized that I had been so taken away by his charm that I never really looked at the facts surrounding the case. And 20 years later I feel awful for my defense of the guy.

I am in no way comparing OJ to this bloke,l. I'm comparing your thought pattern to mine 20 years ago.
