Henry, I asked this last week, but maybe you didn't see the question. Is the weight coming off as planned? Just interested in how that part of the preparation is coming along. All the best with the training and racing.

Good morning Mr. Rono,
Always an interesting read here. Wanted to know if you had the Masters 10k XC meet on your schedule for early December in San Francisco this year? That would give you 10 weeks from now. Either race or make a guest appearance?

I think that Henry won't race 'seriously', (other than use them as fast training runs and time trials), until he has his weight under 170. Last time he posted his weight, it was 189. Not sure what it is now, but that is way too heavy to be a serious contender; even for someone as great as Henry Rono. When he gets under 160 lbs, next year; the world will be hearing from this great warrior again, in a big way!!

I don't to tell you that, but I can tell starting today for 5 days, I'm fasting.Just staying in the house for the all week.I stop everything else and concentrate on fasting.Doing nothing else.I have completed 16 weeks of training now this for one week at week 17 phase II.This will give me to jump on phase II.
Henry
make sure you drink some gatorade diluted with lemon juice water.....to make sure you get enough vitimins and minerals, electrolytes, etc....I fasted for 5 days once, in order to lose a quick 10 lbs, and jump start my weight loss....i ran 4 slow miles each day i fasted....drink alot of green tea, too......best of luck!

You say run 4 miles each day very slow? Four miles will be like 40 minutes? Thank you!
That is very easy.I want to jump start phase III. It has been too long.

I just ran for 54 minutes very slow as you say,my stomatch sounds like there is too much water making alot of noises.
henry
Yes, make sure you are taking a multi-vitamin and staying hydrated. Also, to answer your earlier question, I live in Ohio, so it would be quite a stretch for you to make it out here for a 5k. Hope the fasting/easy running goes well, and good luck!
Go Henry! Go Champion!

When is your 5k? I feel running noises in the stomatch, a little bite of headaches and tossing sleepness.Perhaps spacing out and deep voice or no voice at all.I think by tomorrow I will be used to it.
Henry
You have so many interesting and creative ideas, Henry. You think outside the box! You are an artist! :)
Did you ever fast during your previous WR period?
Henry:
I fast for 7 days, 1 time a year, (water and vitimin water), to clean out my system. I wanted to tell you that the 1st 2-3 days are the toughest, then you will actually start to feel better and it gets easier.
ah, memories!
anybody remember the little yellow booklet, put out by Runners World in the early 70's, called "The Runners Diet"?
It psyched me up to fast for 5 days, first, (during Sept. of college X-C season, when I had gained 15 lbs. at the end of summer, due to injury), then watch my diet after that...it still rings true today.
I lost the weight, my training got much easier, I got much faster within a month and was in the top 5 on the team by 'big meet' time in late October!
A great motivator....if you can still get it.

The 114 days of training phase II second day of fasting: 33mw-up + 48mhc + 33 mcd =114 minutes total.
Midday training 15 minutes warm-up + 200mX7: between 44 seconds and 38 seconds checking on the form how i drive AROUND THE CORNERS, Mbarak Hussein sayS it looks good.He was taking the photos which I will put them on thread later.
After intervals my voice is way down the hole, because there is food in the system,no bady could hear me ,but after word it starts back up. like now after drinking gatorade.

I'm just concelling most of meetings for two weeks just to concentrate of fasting and weight control because the body becomes weak as one goes through these steps.
Runners world call me from NY wanted to come over I told him no time for that. There are many reporters call me lately and ask them what is new for them, and why are they excited about this? Is for me or for them? They say they are million people read runners world. That was his reasoning.
The media are going to have hard time deal with me, this time around.Because they want to put me in a corner and write their own stories, but not my story. This is my story now just walk with me along letsrun.com
In short anyone wants to reach me come through letsrun.com and put your questions right here and we all nail it down.It is good to be out in the open.
I took an hour nap.
ready to out again for the last evening run.My weight has come to 186lbs this morning. The second day of fasting.
Henry
Thank you.
henry,
