Now that we have an prime example of a disorganized retreat, it might be a good time to revisit the difference between this and a "tactical retrograde". In the latter case the front line is held, perhaps at high cost, to buy time so as to establish a fall back lines of defense and position forces to cover the retreat. In the former, not so much.
