Funny, how come no giant spikes in HR right after his breaks (normal, per "sneakers on the ground", who has been posting under his real name on Strava)? Just the typical slow 20-30bpm ramp up that EVERYONE sees when going from resting to jogging. With Goodge, on the other had, it's apparently: Run at 105, stop, start back up, ramp to 142, then drop back to 105 for the next 4 hours. Nothing to see there.
I’m wondering if he took the day off. I thought his posts make it look like he only has one more day to run and alluded to waiting a day to do it.
There's no way he would do this. He wouldn't take a day off. He knows Pete Kostelnick is coming for his fake "record" in a matter of weeks. Pete even posted on this thread on page 5 or 6 or something. The difference is Pete will wear two watches, have a normal heart rate, invite all scrutiny, and eschew any kind of BS will interfere with his ability to actually run 110 km per day. I really hope he can do it.
This is one of the most suspicious elements for me! As well as the 100 bpm HR while running up hill of course, but the early day higher HR and spikes after stops are very confusing (and doesn't look "normal")
I'll invite you all to look into one of the only pieces of data we have left to scrutinize from his past days: the GPS tracking lines. Compare Goodge's nullarbor crossing with Turnbull's. Goodge is definitely running these last few days into Sydney, we have eyewitness proof and we're also not seeing the irregular spike of HR after a stop which then flatlines at 100 after. However, this run I have linked to from the Nullarbor does show those irregularities.
Look at KM 45-56, a section I am fairly confident he actually ran as the end section is when he puts on a sprint for the camera in one of his videos. This section shows normal HR that fluctuates with pace, while the sections before and after show the weird initial spike and then irregular flatline for 10km. The GPS line also appears to hug the shoulder of the road almost the whole time in this section, whereas it seems to drift pretty centrally in the road on others... This isn't enough evidence on its own, as you could argue the roads could've been empty and it was fine for him to run in middle of them. It's just interesting if you look at Turnbull's same run he seems to stay off to the side the whole time...
Now the lines do look a little more shaky and natural in Turnbull's too compared to Goodge's, however Turnbull did mention he faced headwinds and perhaps that could've played a part. Nonetheless, something still seems off about how straight and central Goodge's are for large stretches.
The other anomaly I've found is how the GPS track looks when stopping and starting breaks. For instance, in this photo, the stop right before he runs the 45km-56km stretch, the tracker is paused coming from a straight line in the middle of the road... but then Goodge takes off running after it's paused and heads to the shoulder... Why didn't he continue running down the middle? That is if he had indeed been running. Especially if it was quiet enough to pause in the middle of the road a few minutes earlier... the tracker also picks up very close to where it left off indicating he hadn't needed to move for cars either. This road is super desolate, likely 1 to 5 cars per hour. Looks to me like the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road, he hopped out and started running for real. Very fresh as well given the HR's. This does not look like a rest stop. This looks like a swap over from something suspicious to real running.
Lastly, both stops at km67 and km85 show fairly weird turn off patterns once again. Especially the one at 85. Why would you turn from the center of the road off to the right at the last minute if you can already see your team there and know you're going to stop... In his other runs where we can verify he ran we see him drift to shoulder and head straight towards them, not turn off last minute. None of Turnbull's stops that I've found seem to show these same patterns.
To me these tracks look vehicular at certain stretches and points. And while my theories could be inaccurate, and it's not quite the smoking gun enough yet, it is highly suspicious and worth looking into. The data from THESE sections is what we truly need. Or better yet, they seem to do a lot of recording, I'm sure they have hours on the cutting room floor, why not provide video footage from moments around them to disprove my claims.

He was out running, or more often walking, all day. I think what he meant was that he only had one more full 110k day, because the final day would only be about 70k. That's what I picked up from his Instagram updates.

he’s only got 70k left after today? so another opportunity to put an end to these stunts has gone begging. but hey, at least we got pages and pages of people complaining and trying to analyse data that’s inaccurate…time well spent.
if what Goodge does upsets you (and it clearly does) get proactive, get organised and settle this once and for all. otherwise I hope Goodge enjoys the sponsorships, endorsements, influencer clout, speaking engagements, media attention and book deal that he’s earned*
Cadence are officially launching in Australia this weekend, with big run club events around Sydney. This follows on from Represent / 247 opening a Los Angeles office of the bag of Goodge's US Transcon.
This really emphasises just how much Goodge's trans continental projects are being used to launch businesses in new continents for huge profits.
Our old friend Eleni Tsingas is also out there desperately trying to be part of the action to try and forge a career as an influencer.
I also saw Brockmann wearing Represent /247 gear this week and Russ Cook has been regularly too. So they're heavily using runfluencers to push their brand.

You know when people spout empty words without having thought anything through? Congratulations that's what you just did.
Do you inhabit a fantasy world where people can just on the drop of a hat leave their lives, families and jobs and spend a fortune trying to expose something that ultimately doesn't matter? Pointing out that this seems suspicious isn't something you need to be taking so personally.

empty words is a great way to describe this thread. 33 pages and where has it got you?
I’m 99% sure Goodge is cheating but why would there be a response to the letter? It was embarrassing. Cockerell has far too often let his convictions get the better of him, to the detriment of actually proving them. He should continue, but stick to what we know for sure and avoid muddying the waters with hyperbole.

Any progress on answering my question? The idea that a group of people quit their jobs and get on an expensive plane flight to Australia having arranged vehicles and accommodation at the other end.
Loudly proclaiming an inability to be able to think things through isn't the boast you seem to think.
I get your point with the Cockerell hyperbole (and agree with you), but that letter was simply stating the facts and observations. I was interested to know if any response had come from the media, authorities and sponsors. I can imagine what Goodge and Brooks' response would have been.
Old news, but his post days back about now allowing anyone else to join him because of "energy conservation" is absolute horsesh*t. I crossed the US a few years back, and would've killed to have more company, it made the miles go by so much quicker

As I said earlier, if Goodge was serious about proving he wasn't cheating all he had to do was tell one of his slacker buddies on his support crew to live stream a single day when he was out running. He chose not to for obvious reasons.
Also I notice that now that hes around more people and actually dong more miles he appears more tired and beat and his gait has changed and he appears leaner and stiffer when hes walking or getting up.
All signs that he wasn't doing anywhere near this kind of running earlier on.
On May 20, 2025, British fitness influencer William Goodge is expected to reach Sydney, completing a 3,800-kilometer journey across the Australian continent

Great work. I think this pins him down as a cheater.
I ran through Australia 24 years ago. So the traffic was probably a little lighter in the Nullarbor than it is now. If I remember that right, most of the Roadtrains would stop driving during the day. You saw them early in the morning until 8 am or so for the most part. They were starting driving again in the late afternoon after the tourists where done with driving. There was not too much traffic but at no time you didn't want to get caught in the middle of the road. A few times two roadtrains passing each other missed us by inches because this road is really narrow. Is is it. You caught Will Goodge cheating!
I mean it’s not entirely coincidence that a running clothing brand is sponsoring runners with social media followings to promote their clothing lines though right?
That would be like saying, ever notice how Ben Shelton, Iga Swiatek and Joao Fonseca all wear On and have been in On commercials?
Represent have been a decently sized clothing brand for the last 2 years.
I get you’re saying they’d be FOR cheating on the transcon for financial gain, but I think it’s just marketing to be honest.
