No. If one chooses to jump the other has to jump or they would lose the jump off without jumping
The US should hold on but it makes more sense to have SML at the end, just in case. The other three legs are good enough to match every other country but you’re putting a lot of pressure on the third and fourth leg to run out front alone. We shall see.

I’ve been watching this high jump final for hours and they just jump into the stick every time. This is exhilarating.

Defaults to jump-off. If you refuse to jump when the other person wants to then you lose by default.

A shared medal needs agreement, a jump off is the default.

Maybe have a few extra jumps jump-off, but go with the tie if nobody makes anything in two extra jumps.

having a fast 2nd leg gives them a clean leg the rest of the race. it's not my preferred setup, but there's some logic to it. SML has run 57.xxx by herself before. the other runners will need to run their 49.xx by themselves.
I don't understand why they are doing a jump off. An Olympic gold 🥇 is an Olympic gold.

Default is a jump off. It is only a tie if both agree to retire.

did anyone else think deadmon looked really nervous walking out on the track??
You can look at the results and see he dnf'd in the semi's. Pulled up with a groin or quad injury coming off the final turn.
