We have a new 2024 vaccine thread here. New people don't need to try to wade through 20,000 posts to figure out what is going on.
The chart eviscerates your point and all you can do is babble about context.
Nobody is forcing anyone to get the vaccine anymore either. You have literally nothing to be mad about... yet you still rage. I suspect this is anger that the vaccines worked. That big pharma and big medicine won. And that nobody else is falling for the grift that taking 400 supplements will magically turn you into Mr. Superimmune.
Chart totally lacking proper context most definitely does NOT eviscerate my point. But, be my guest, go get the bivalent booster.
Definitely not angry. You sound like the pissed off one. I suspect it irritates you that so many like myself & my family & my relatives survived Covid easily with no “vaccines,” no hospitalization, no long Covid. Just good, common sense measures, & now we have broad immunity to contribute to the herd, while you have to wonder, just what in God’s name have you done to yourself.
Imagine when we get a real pandemic. People are so mistrustful of your types now, we will really be in trouble. Great job! I’m bored again. But I will occasionally post just to circumvent your automated bot bs.
The risk ratio for unvaccinated vs vaccinated was greater than comorbidity vs no-comorbidity during delta and early omicron waves. They are roughly on par for the BA5 variant.
Supporting data has been posted on thread previously.
Your argument is, as usual, "the vaccines are not 100% percent effective, let's FREAK OUT!"
Tired. Embarrassing. Childish. Low-IQ.
Do better!
Right, so I brought up Japan a week or two ago & your argument has literally gone from:
1.) Antivaxxers pulling the old bait & switch w “cases,” which don’t mean anything.
2.) Deaths, but barely above baseline.
3.) So deaths creeping up, my bad, but where’s the data that suggests BA.5 is innocuous (other than just look around the world)?
4.) Ok, well cases & deaths from BA.5, but Simpson’s Paradox. The Japs were going to die anyway.
Utterly disingenuous “scientist.”
Your argument is that somepeople are dying of BA.5 in Japan... therefore.. what? Vaccines don't work? You present data without analysis and act like it proves a point.
The only point is that you still have not googled 'base rate fallacy.' Sad!

I readily admit the average American stands a great chance of surviving COVID without a vaccine. I can read an IFR value.
You seem to actually think that surviving a disease with a ~0.5% IFR without intervention is noteworthy as an n=1 or n=2 or however big your innumerate family is (get it? lol).
It's extremely telling that you insist on falling back on tiny anecdotes about you or your family when pressed to actually support your arguments. This leaves 2 logical conclusions:
1) You are utterly mathematically incompetent and think it's reasonable to extrapolate from tiny n= anecdotes to determine your worldview about the virus.
2) You are completely selfish and it does not bother you that an IFR of 0.5% means a ton of people will die without vaccines even if there's a good chance you may never know one personally.
I mean, that's not a rhetorical corner I think you wanted to paint yourself into but... give it your best shot!

What sucks is an actual nasal vaccine that could elicit the foundational secretory IgA response in the mucosal lining could’ve actually stopped transmission. Would not have been hard to do. Now, if we ever get it, nobody is going to take it. But, I’m not actually sure stopping transmission was ever the goal.
Instead, we use an epitope that is supposedly highly conserved, even though we are seeing tons of mutation. We don’t pick the nucleocapsid antigen or spine helix, which would provoke a much more durable T cell response. Brilliant.
I would take a nasal vaccine. Most of us are reasonable. Just because you're now terrified of all vaccines having cognitive dissonanced yourself into a dark, dark, place... doesn't mean the rest of us aren't enthusiastic about even further revolutions in vaccine medicine.
"not sure stopping transmission was ever the goal" + "J*p" as a random antiquated slur + lots of anger about the midterms = I think your true colors are showing

Wow. New paper makes strong case that COVID booster mandates in young adults (as in many US universities), caused net harm, and must be judged unethical. This should not have happened, and we should insist on accountability. @KevinBardosh@TracyBethHoeg@VPrasadMDMPH 👇 https://t.co/0Bbj4C6jTN
How do we figure out who needs it?? Details… not my problem! I’ll continue to be very Mad that someone posted a chart.
Monkeys chart shows that COVID is a risk for tons of people under 45 was. And was a deadly risk for many under 25. This completely contradicts your antivaxxer rantings.
That’s just it. We knew VERY early that adipose tissue was a natural reservoir and exacerbated Covid, low vit D exacerbated Covid, people w significant comorbidity of any age suffered at the extreme, so we actually did have a TARGET population. A population that if they refused the “vax” could still be administered therapeutics, FDA approved drugs, to mitigate the illness and thwart long Covid.
Again, the important point that nobody wants to address is that chart says absolutely nothing about convalescence, comorbidity, obesity, etc. It says nothing. It’s just a chart with zero context.
Have to say I totally concur. That BMJ paper just posted highlights of the net harm of booster mandates in the young and healthy. Many papers have suggested the same thing. Most of Europe gets it. The weight of the evidence says we never should've been forcing college age kids or younger to get vaccinated.
Conclusion Based on public data provided by the CDC,19 we estimate that in the fall of 2022 at least 31 207–42 836 young adults aged 18–29 years must be boosted with an mRNA vaccine to prevent one Omicron-related COVID-19 hospitalisation over 6 months. Given the fact that this estimate does not take into account the protection conferred by prior infection or a risk adjustment for comorbidity status, this should be considered a conservative and optimistic assessment of benefit. Our estimate shows that university COVID-19 vaccine mandates are likely to cause net expected harms to young healthy adults—for each hospitalisation averted we estimate approximately 18.5 SAEs and 1430–4626 disruptions of daily activities—that is not outweighed by a proportionate public health benefit. Serious COVID-19 vaccine-associated harms are not adequately compensated for by current US vaccine injury systems. As such, these severe infringements of individual liberty and human rights are ethically unjustifiable.

Hey genius. It's a paper about policy by a social scientist.

Hey genius, read the entire paper. Plenty of scientific data to corroborate the opinion and several physicians attached to the publisher.
I don't you pointing out the few cases of people getting Covid after the booster vs the hundreds of millions of people NOT getting covid after a booster is the dunk you think it is.
But please continue showing us how lacking your critical thinking is.

Pretty obvious you didn't read the entire paper. Equally obvious that you didn't major in English.
No one is stopping you from getting your boosters. So, go ahead. Enjoy your sub-clinical myocarditis, the risk of which increases with each dose. If you are under 30 and healthy, you are dumb, but it's not a crime to be dumb.

4 injections of mRNA goop, gets infected, stays home.
I thought "vaccines" were supposed to prevent that. Especially after 4 of 'em. I dunno. Just sayin'.
Then I had the first Pfizer vaccine. The BBC was reporting the deaths of young persons in India from the arrival of the new ‘Delta’ virus. As an asthmatic, this scared me and was the reason behind my vaccination. Beforehand, I did research on the side-effects. Nothing appeared in the search results except for symptoms such as sore arm and fatigue. We were told it was safe and effective and that any symptoms would be temporary.
A week after the first dose, my head became heavy, hard to hold up, so I decided to seek medical assistance. A & E refused an X-ray at that time. The GP had to refer me. I was experiencing chills, heart palpitations, sweating, visual disturbances and dizziness. My neck pain and stiffness came back and became ever worse.
In August I got the second jab. Big mistake. I spent the whole week of my annual leave in bed. My body was inflamed the day afterwards, swollen and difficult to move. I was crying in pain. Four days later my right leg started tremoring. When I returned to work, it was a massive struggle. I pushed myself until I couldn’t any more. I managed three days and a morning before I told my manager I had to go home. That night, neurological hell started. I vomited ten-plus times and struggled to sleep. When I did, I would jolt awake after a minute with fast heart rate and chest pain. I experienced flight and fight 24/7 for months – I was not in control. My whole body burnt and twisted like I was on a torture rack. There has been no relief, no good days ever since.
A fracture was found ten months later. But a neurosurgeon told me it would have healed and wouldn’t have caused these issues. In fact, he mentioned transverse myelitis and the vaccine.
Also, I have been diagnosed with craniocervical instability, but the NHS can’t help. The operation costs £60,000 abroad. It appears that the inflammation from the vaccine attacked my craniocervical ligaments. But that is another story.
These pictures record my life as it was and as it now.
