Could have easily passed legislation two years ago when they controlled both houses and the executive. Just as he could have student loan relief. The truth is they didn’t.

50 democrat senators wouldn’t have voted for student loan relief. You don’t automatically get the votes. They have to actually vote.

Presidents tend to do worse with policy when they control both chambers. See: Bill Clinton in his first term and healthcare reform (I mean, "Hillarycare"). See also: George W Bush in his 2nd term trying to privatize Social Security. The problem is that each Congressperson and/or Senator has to run on their record.

Let's take Biden and his Inflation Reduction Act as an example. West Virginia still has coal miners. Arizona shares a border with Mexico. Nothing in that bill helped either state, and there were things that hurt both Sens Manchin and Sinema...so both turned independent and won't be reelected.

Executive orders can be hard to swallow...but they are the only way forward when you can't reach across the aisle. The Supreme Court told a Biden his "student debt relief" was unconstitutional. So he issued executive orders that won't get to the Court by election day.
