Official 2015-16 D3 Track Thread

I caught quite a bit of the meet and was impressed with the depth of the women's events. As a former DIII coach, I can see it has really improved. the 800 depth is much better. We qualified a couple times in the 4x400 running 3:52ish and even made the final once running that. That gets you nothing now. Those Nebraska Wesleyan women in the 400 H and 4 x 400 can run! The relay did not even include the 400 hurdle girl.

Talk about depth. To run a 3:40 in a 4x400m and not even run one of your best 400m runners. The women's events were really fantastic this year. Plenty of athletes that could have made the D1 regional meet had they gone D1. It made it really fun to watch.

That said the men's 400m and 800m were so fun to watch. Nearly everyone in the 400m final ran at least a 47 to make finals. It was incredible. Then the men's 800m, minus Black, was incredibly even on paper.

Overall, a fun meet to be at.

Escher and Sebhat are entered in the pro field of the Festival of Miles in St. Louis on the 2nd. Along with McNamara and Soratos.

Mitch will run well since he's got momentum. 1:47 mid to 1:48 low. Cattanach could also run well since this isn't a NCAA final. 1:49 high to 1:55 low.

McNamara will physically drag them around the track for four laps. Expect severe and painful track burns.

He was just 2nd at nationals less than one week ago. My guess is he was still a little tired from that, and he probably lost motivation last night when he realized he wasn't going to break 4 or PR. Last year his two postseason races were 2 and 3 weeks after nats, so he had more rest. Look for him to bounce back next week. He didn't suddenly become "fried" between last weekend and last night.

I feel his best chances are going out in 58, then follow up with a 61, 60 and close hard for sub 60. His chances were out from the get go.
