It kills me how the Left always tries to turn everything into a wash by alleging some unsubstantiated sex scandal. In almost every case there is no verifiable evidence and no criminal charges. It's simply because they know they'll lose on policies, which is really what matters here. I don't like Gaetz at all, but he's a better choice than the Trump Derangement DOJ they have in there now. He doesn't need to be a legal expert anyway, he just needs to push through whatever Trump and the Republican Congress want, while remaining loyal to the text and provisions of the Constitution. That's it. He doesn't need to be a saint and he doesn't need to be Strom Thurman, Booker T. Washington, or John Jay. He just needs to be a figurehead and do what he's told.
Trump won and gets to select whoever he dangwell wants for his cabinet. That's how the system works. The attorney general is just the legal arm of Trump's executive branch. The Democrats do the same thing. Pete Buttigieg was Transportation Secretary and knew nothing about it and was totally ineffectual. But it's who Biden picked. That's how it is. Quit whining.

Actually, the AG should be a legal expert. The AG is the top lawyer in the country and needs to have the legal knowledge and judgement to evaluate the legal risks of policy and enforcement decisions. The AG's job isn't to push through what Congress wants, Congress is a separate branch of government. The AG's job is only to follow what the POTUS wants only if the AG determines that it is legal. That's why qualifications, which Gaetz doesn't have, matter.
An no, Trump doesn't get whomever he wants. At least not if we follow the Constitution. Trump gets his pick if and when the Senate consents to the pick. That is what the Constitution says.
