Is the fastest Boston Marathon time EVER?
Was that an official world record?
Does anyone know?

This bit here that I put in quotes...I suppose that happens with a point to point...but wtf.
Clara Grandt finishes in 2:29:54. When was the last time there were three American women in the same marathon to finish under 2:30?
I'm not sure what's funnier:
1) The trolls who keep insisting this is a new WR just to get a response, or
2) The idiots who can't figure out that the trolls are baiting them.

YES! YES IT WAS!!!!!!!!! WR!!!!
Official BAA results. Hall was 3rd, not 4th, in 2:04:58
I'm officially taking back all the bad things I've said about Ryan Hall. I've said a lot of bad things about him, and while I still think he's nuttier than a bag of cashews, he rocked the house today.
Nothing makes sense anymore.
Go to this guys house and put him out of his misery please...tool!

WOW, the amout of variation that Ryan Hall just showed in his performances is unreal. Who runs 1:04:55 and 2:04:58 in the same training block? Major props to Hall for making the race and not being discouraged by earlier performances.
Thanks to everyone providing step by step updates. It was (almost) as good as watching the real thing.
That said - damn. I really want to dig up a video of this. Sounds like a hell of a race.

as said before, Boston is not a WR course because of the elevation drop and the distance between start and finish. not because of the wind.
Right and not really right in the sense that it misses the causation. The reason that point-to-point is restricted is because it can be wind-aided; Boston 2011 case in point. I agree with the rule, although I might allow a little more separation between start and finish - such as in NY. In addition, I might even graduate the rule with more separation allowed when the elevation gain is larger, but that gets tricky.
God is real* and this** proves*** it****!
