I noticed that Dylan Bowman has been removed from the Speedland athlete page since the Cam Hanes stuff came about.
Did the guy who they did the first athlete commission for quit the brand because of the support Speedland has shown Cam? Haven't seen a DBo shoe since the first GS while Cam has had multiple commissions.
Might be nothing, but noticed that DBo predictably has stayed out of this one. Guess Cam isn't elite enough for DBo's attention.
Maybe this has been touched on, but the Coffee Club pod actually has had the best take on this. I don't listen regularly so I don't know who is who, but they seemed largely unaware of who Cam was, but as one of the guys (again, don't know who exactly) recounted the situation and then Cam's reaction, another was like, "Wow he sounds like a f*cking d*ck."
And then they were like very black and white, if he's taking drugs he shouldn't be competing. And the pod was released on May 21st, so before some of Cam's even more aggressive behavior/meltdowns.
Pretty refreshing to hear, definitely earned a fan.
What is weird is Cam shared that podcast, then said something along the lines of
~ these guys are rad check them out, my favorite running podcast, I haven't watched the pod though if they talked sh!t it's no big deal ~
Not sure why he would share the pod then if he hasn't watched it. When I saw him share it I immediately thought the podcast was defending him and was bummed out, until I watched it. Seems like he was sharing it to pawn it off as support, when in reality that wasn't the case.
Also unrelated, can we talk about how many stories this guy post a day. It's a minimum of 20 a day? That's seriously concerning, the dude is glued to his phone.
What I don't get is why Cam even acknowledged Sage. Sage is an absolute nobody in the grand scheme of things. Cam is kind of a somebody. Had Cam just ignored Sage, this would've blown over within a day.

You're right, and that's why it's so funny. His ego won't let him do the smart thing.
The worst thing he could do is keep acknowledging this and giving it air, but he needs that validation from his audience too much to stop.

he might also just not be the sharpest arrow in the quiver
Cam is just a race “poacher,” selfishly ignoring the rules and regulations.
I think Cam needs to rethink his opinion and apologize and take some accountability for being 100% in the wrong.
Purely satire since I doubt this is possible….If Sage was hunting elk without a permit, using a machine gun out of a military helicopter…I’m pretty sure Cam would be outraged. His insults towards Sage and all honest runners aren’t justified, and he knows it. Anyone defending him is like defending a poacher who took an elk out of season or doubled up and took 2.

Him sharing that is a real puzzler.
"But if he was in a sanctioned race you can't be f*cking taking drugs"
Literally the first words of the podcast. Like you hit play and immediately hear that. I don't think this guy is that smart.
Cam Hane's latest tirade on his IG stories. I run but I'm no runner. I don't care about your f*cking race. I get invited to come and run so I do. I give my best to everything I do. If I run well and that upsets you you're a b*tch. I don't care about your fake outrage. I'm a mountain bowhunter and that's the only reason I run.
Yes, I have been training seriously and regularly entering races for many years. Yes, I just ran an elite masters marathon time. But I am no runner.
Yes, I am friends with many prominent professional runners and running influencers and have featured Cole Hocker, Connor Mantz, Des Linden, Courtney Dauwalter, Shelby Houlihan, Matt Centrowitz, Ben Blankenship, Rachel Entrekin, Jeff Browning, and Alexi Pappas on my podcast within the last couple years. And I spoke at a "strength for runners seminar" with Nick Symmonds just last year. But I am no runner.
Yes, from the very start of my influencing career, I have built my personal brand (TM) around hunting AND running. Yes, I constantly post/talk about running to my large social media following. Yes, I sell running-related merch and posted an advertisement for my branded running shorts ("Built for those who don't believe in shortcuts") the day after my massive, late-in-life marathon PR. But I stand to gain nothing financially from running, as I am no runner.

Oh good, I am going to have a listen
Thanks for the recommendation! I love that they were black and white about, even with little context. AND I thought it was refreshing to hear they weren't familiar with BCP-157 peptides.
If he really does have equity in the company, it's possible he is contractually restricted from speaking publicly against it (and it's athletes like Cam). A lot depends on what agreements they signed, but shareholders and investors can sometimes have confidentiality or non-disparagement obligations.
This would explain why his literal trail running news media company has been quite on something that has such a big impact on trail running.

I started listening to both of Zach Bitter's podcasts (I'll admit I didn't get through the second entirely, yet) take on this situation, and I'm disappointed. Yes, sure, Cam may not be a professional athlete in the traditional sense but he does benefit from being a fast runner in his Age Group, not just in AG awards but also having access to things like shoe deals, sponsorships, access to other ancillary benefits that others would not enjoy, more influence/money. And Zach seems to give Cam a lot of benefit of the doubt, seemed to downplay Cam's place in the sport, and celebrates his 'transparency' a lot. They must be friends or at least know each other well.
