I'm not making anything up. As I said, this is what I remember from news reports at the time.

But why are you making things up about "a friend of a friend who works for someone knows exactly what happened in all the meetings, and he told me all about it"?

If you know so much then tell us who Kemp met with and when? I'm 100% positive you can't do that.

What is an indisputable fact is that he opened up while disregarding the guidelines from the CDC and Trump's coronavirus task force. And in doing so, Kemp has allowed this virus to spread and to kill more Georgians.

And my memory was basically correct. Kemp didn't even consult his own coronavirus task force.

Kemp met with and continues to meet weekly with Toomey, two of Tommey's direct reports (one of whom is a friend of mine), at least one rep from CDC who gives briefings, and typically have reps from outside agencies depending on the agenda.

A risk assessment was performed and submitted to Kemp by the GADPH before re-opening.

That 0.95 value is as of June 9th. Not sure exactly when the model was run, but let's assume it is based on data through June 8th.

On June 8th: 7-day moving average for new cases was 657 and 7-day moving average positivity was 6.32%.

On June 15th: 7-day moving average for new cases was 845 and 7-day moving average positivity was 7.33%.

So while Rt of 0.95 should mean things are getting better, it appears that things actually got worse.

We have to remember that rt.live is really backward-looking. It gives you an estimate of what the Rt was rather than what the Rt is. I suspect that the recent rise in cases is due in part to the protests. I wonder what the rt.live will show the next time they run their model.

It's surging. And spiking. And soaring.

Scary, scary.

6/15 Data

Good for the US, a little backslide for the world.

The headline continues to be that the 7 day moving average of daily deaths in the US is falling rapidly.

US:

6/15: 747

6/8: 841

5/15: 1,413

Its fall only seems to be accelerating.

The world had a good run but it ended with a rise yesterday:

6/15: 4,337

6/8: 4,410

5/15: 4,598

Globe is still in an intermediate-term decline, but a shallow decline that could become plateau or worse pretty easily.

In the US state rankings, GA went a step in the wrong direction. After being 18th worst state for a long time, it passed NH in the wrong direction and is now 17th worst. GA marked 43 deaths yesterday, second most of any state. (raw numbers, not per capita).

There's no way you could be "100% positive". Take a nap old timer and rethink your terrible logic. Or better yet, go for a jog and shed some of that extra tonnage.

As of 3 p.m., there have been 2,529 deaths in Georgia, with the state's earliest reported death on March 5. Over the last 14 days (6/3-6/16), the average daily increase in newly reported deaths was 29.00 deaths each day. Over the previous 14-day period (5/20-6/2), the average daily increase in newly reported deaths was 28.93.

Is this spiking?

Seven day rolling average is up to 833. Hospitalizations are not yet spiking, but those are a lagging indicator. Deaths are rising. Worldometer shows almost 1000 new cases today.

Re-opening began 8 weeks ago. This thread was started 3 weeks ago. How much longer do we need to wait for this "spike"? Shouldn't it have come already?

The new pattern is continued quick improvement in the US but degradation globally.

In the US the 7 day rolling average of daily deaths continues to fall very fast.

6/17: 687

6/10: 821

5/17: 1,400

But all the headlines are of the increase in US cases in Southern and Western states. Few talk about the plummeting death counts. Journos need a clickbait headline I guess.

Nate Silver has been talking about the discrepancy and he believes it is at least partly because the new cases are much younger victims than they were in NY/NJ/CT so the virus isn't killing as many of them. Nursing homes outside of the Northeast had time to build out ways to keep their patients safe. And older people are staying home. So young people get it, are counted, but don't die.

In the world we had another day of worsening conditions.

This is not just Brazil...it's a general upsweep of death.

In the US state rankings, GA has been degrading. Was 18th worst a few days ago...now is 16th worst. but there is some congestion...a few deaths could move that either way.

AZ has NOT moved in the rankings despite it having surging cases.

Globally, Brazil continued its march in the wrong direction: up to 17th worst. was 26th worst a month ago.
