Because meat is invaluable nutrition at all levels. There are no vegan runners in the elite ranks for a reason, and it's not "Because they don't care about the animals."

It always lacked credibility that a sprinter/jumper like Lawson would test positive for steroid like trenbolone. Trenbolone is known as a very dangerous drug that causes strange, even dangerous mental and emotional swings, anxiety, and severe insomnia in its users. I don’t think anyone knows why it seems to cause these bizarre side effects, as it probably would be unethical to perform long term studies on such a dangerous drug.

Whatever gains a runner might make in power would be more than offset by chronic insomnia, and strange emotional outbursts that some users report. Not to mention that too much body weight would be a severe hindrance to a long jumper.
