Is distance running a good sport to impress women ?

I find where I run my 7 miles, a running and walking path in a populated area. that the women there are way more like me then the general women I meet in other places. The problem is I'm running and not in a position to get to know someone or get a telephone number! A lot of smiles but nothing more.

I never understood this...is it b/c they are intimidated or insecure w/in themselves? It blows my mind to see men w/ditzy women who take advantage of them etc. Yet, they run away from women who are confident, independent, intelligent and good looking as well.

"Just be yourself" seems like a cliche but there is nothing that attracts men more than a carefree attitude. It seems ironic and unfair. I spent years trying to figure it out and make it work and it was like banging my head on the wall. The second I let go and just said "duck it" was the second they flocked and then the question turns from "why" to "which one". Not joking. And again, the irony is, that as a 46 yo divorcee and mom, I am just as happy if I lived alone the rest of my life. Trust me. No man will save you so you might as well take care of yourself.

Depends on what kind of woman you are trying to attract.

Personally I am attracted to a man of good character and passionate about growing and learning. This can show in a runner. And yes, on the face of it being a faster runner is more attractive than a slower one.

But anyway... there are many other factors besides running... so my advice is to just be yourself.

As I’ve gotten older, I’m definitely more carefree than ever, but I don’t put up w/a lot of bs either. I much prefer to be alone then chase after a man to save me...not looking for that and I do take GOOD care of myself ? . I was just curious in general about men who are intimidated by women who have their shItz together ?.

Ha! That's only true if you're loaded ($$$). 26 yr old women (hot ones at least) don't go for 60 yr old cats unless they're loaded. ?

The better question is are women who have very little to no interest in physical activity attractive to men?

The sad answer is yes, some men will copulate with obese women, why, I don't know and I guess I shouldn't be so judgemental. Also, some men and women are in relationships where neither is neccessarilty obese but neither is terribly fit.

In this day and age, if you're a man, whether a hobby jogger or competitive runner, you should be happy you are doing something for your health and fitness and not worry about whether women are attracted to that.

Yes, obviously many women will find a man who takes care of himself appealing.

However, that's just one factor to attract women. Biologically, a fit and moderately good looking man is not neccessarily attractive to women when other factors may be considered (specifically income) where as a fit and reasonably attractive women is attractive to many, many men.

If you are fast, you can probably impress women who are runners themselves. In college, since women's teams are usually bigger than men's teams, you can probably find someone on the team to date no matter your speed as a guy. Post college though, there are a lot more male runners than female runners and you've got to be pretty fast for running to impress anyone at all.

I hear you, I was talking more about general health and fitness, maintaining a healthy BMI.

There are so many fat and obese people out there.

In my experience, no, the fact I run and lift does not impress women per say because I am single.

I am not incredibly fit but I did run 1 mile in 5:47 last year in a time trial (after over 1 hour running that day) at age 34 and would like to see if I can get faster this year at 35. Since turning 35 I've increased my bench press to two reps at 195. I weigh around 160.

I would guess these simple stats would place me in the top 10, perhaps 5% of men my age (mid 30's)

but that does not get me dates. It gets me to feel good about myself. Yes, I am aware a sub 6 minute mile is nothing special but I'm talking about the avergae north american man in his mid 30's.

I work out because it's part of my lifestyle.

The bank account is what will give me more confidence and probably get me more dates.

(Not that it's that bad, but, I'm just not super confident to go around and ask out hot women.. rather.. I don't feel I'd have much success.. getting a hot date wouldn't improve my quality of life in the long run where as career progress would)

There is one woman I've been interested in for a LONG time but nothing has ever happened between us. I think it has (well I know it has) quite a bit to do with my bank account.

Or.. I like her and would like to see her as more than a friend/aquaintance but without real career progress, I don't feel a relationship is likely to develop. It just never does and it's been years.

Maybe I should forget this woman but it's been really hard for me. One thing forsure is that I know a change of scenery would do me good (like living in NYC where there are tons of beautiful women). Dating a new person would definitely be healthier I believe.

I can't force her to want to spend time with me, lol. One thing I just did though was leave her a voicemail. She was quite attractive to me even though she didn't work out. She kept a trim figure and would go for long walks, hikes.

But recently she's put on weight. She still claims to have a helathy BMI but she just wasn't super attractive to me like she was in the past.

After offering to help her with fitness many times, I guess I've just lost patience. I flat out told her I recommend she really works out. I also told her she could pass along my name if she knew any attractive women who were looking to date. I told her I hoped they worked out.

I also told her she could get me a Rolex watch if she wanted. LOL a bit cheeky but at least I'm honest!
