Someone has to teach your generation of broken homes some manners
Someone has to teach your generation of broken homes some manners
I was brought up to respect the family of the recently deceased.
The families are grieving for their losses. But, this is how whacked out society has become when I am called a sociopath for asking people to stop gabbing until at least after the funeral for respectful purposes.
I know I can't win this argument but I have no problem letting lost of you know how messed up you really are.

You told me I have the maturity of a 5 year old. Then you have the audacity to try to lecture me on manners. OK Boomerang!
Kobe- not even close, because Kobe was such an influential person on a world stage. He was currently in the news and media cycle, being recently retired and expected to be first-ballot HOFer next year. He has built such a big fan base and has inspired so many people with his world-famous "Mamba Mentality" and message of perseverance and refusing to quit.
Not saying that Porter wasn't all of these things, but Kobe was so influential and represented so much for the second biggest city in the US. For 20 years, he WAS Los Angeles sports. Being so recently in the public eye also makes a difference. Porter was retired for decades before he died. This also came as such a shock because of the impact on his family, as he had a daughter with a promising basketball career who everybody had hoped to continue on Kobe's legacy.
Rest in peace, Mamba.

You can't be lectured on manners - you wouldn't know empathy if you fell over it. And, yes, you have the self-absorption of a 5 year old - you are the centre of your little universe.

Pat Porter?
Never heard of him. Why do we care about a 13:30 5k runner?
Pat was an 8 time United States of America National Champion in Cross Country and multiple time top 10 finisher at the World Cross Country Championships. He also set a then 10k world road race record and a 2 time Olympian in the 10,000 meter.
If you want to see Pat in (fictional) action, he played Lasse Viren in the Prefontaine movie Without Limits.
Thurman Munson was a much bigger loss for me. I was only 11 years old, but I wanted to me a major league catcher like him. There have a been a lot of tragic loss's like Munson, Porter and Bryant. It teaches you treat every day as a blessing and live like it could be your last. Tell everyone that means a lot to you that you love them. It could be the last opportunity to do it. You just never know.
Dan McCliman or Steve Prefontaine. Most people on the site are too young to remember those people.
It was Pat Porter
Some very, very ill people on these boards. Wouldn't say boo to a goose in real life. Absolute sad acts.

Never heard of Pat Potter but one could ask: Pre or Kobe? The difference is that in this case also his daughter was killed which makes the situation so much more devastating because the family not only lost their dad but one of the siblings.
Pat Porter’s son, along with his son’s friend, also perished when Pat’s plane went down. No difference in this case.

Pat or Kobe? Neither, my choice is the aborted baby down at the clinic earlier today, about 3 miles from all of our homes, who never was given a chance to live a life and achieve their dreams.
Pat and Kobe both did.
What the F**K is wrong with you?????
I think there's a website somewhere for your inappropriate comment of which has NOTHING TO DO with the subject matter on this site..........IDIOT!!!!

Pat Porter. Epitomized grit. I met Pat, but never Kobe. Once asked what he did in Alamosa when he had 6 x mile to do and it was 5 degrees out with 20 mile per hour winds, Pat did not hesitate to answer, "well, I put on an extra pair of wind pants and get out there." Kobe would not get out of bed.
Perhaps Pat should have chosen a sport/career that doesn't require someone do something stupid for a few dollars a year salary.
If grit is defined as doing something painful and stupid, then the guys who did the show Jack@ss should be hall of famers for grit. They never backed down from anything painful and stupid.
If it's 5 degrees out with 20mph winds, I'm also staying inside with my family.
Hmmmmm....Sounds like you're an overachiever. You must be proud of yourself. The family you speak of are your mom and dad???? I'm guessing that you live in their basement????? You're probably 30 years old????? Probably voting for Bernie or Biden so you can freeload off all of us hard-working Americans???????.....LOSER!!!!!!

Well said. Perhaps the death of some celebrities reminds some of these psychiatrically ill posters of their own mortality and they lash out due to their own mental maladies.
Why would you be so stupid to make up categories like this? Pure ignorance. All life is valuable. Why stop there idiot why not ask if losing Pre vs Steve Irwin... stop with stupid storylines just to get people to respond

You responded. To me you are as primitive as Pavlov’s dog and about as smart.
Neither death impacted me one iota, I will never understand why people are so affected by the death of a person they have never met or spoken to.

Like President Kennedy or Martin Kuther King? You haven't been here very long, have you?

Kobe would decide to do 8 repeats because it would mentally improve his game. Kobe was a freaking beast. I don't think there was ever been an athlete as devoted to his craft as Kobe.
