It is like the Lance era where everyone thought his secret to success was high cadence or bike aerodynamics.
This. Well stated.

The guy’s PR who beat you on the vaporfly is as good as yours as long as the shoe is LEGAL to use. Your self righteousness and opinion does not define who’s PR’s are good and who’s aren’t because you are not the AUTHORITY to declare a pair of shoes illegal.
Nike is at the edge of running shoe engineering, that’s a fact.
On the other hand nothing is precluding you to go crying to the IAAF to declare the shoes illegal. Perhaps a signed petition will help your cause?
Good luck!(you certainly need it)
Again, just my opinion. But I can sleep well at night knowing that I actually earned my PR instead of buying it for the price of $250 then bragging about it to my friends. You really have no freaking clue.
They work, trust me, I went from a 61 minute 10k runner to a 59 minute one after years of trying.
Yes, Geb ran sub 2:04 (2:03:59) over a decade back, but he was a former 26:22 10000m runner, and it took him years to get the marathon right. The guys running 2:02-2:03 are not close to as good as him at the 5 and 10.

Exactly. Put them on the track with spikes and they won't come anywhere near the times Haile ran and we all know that.

There is nothing wrong with not being honest about it. That’s how entertainment works!
4% of the East African dominance is thanks to the Cheaterflys.
96% is thanks to unlimited doping.
East African countries need to be banned from the sport, just like Russia.

If they run in Vaporflies in their track race, wouldn’t they run faster than Geb there, too?
THE POWER OF PRAYER!

So does this mean all of the Long Standing Marathon National Records will be broke? Example Australia's 2:07:51, Portugal's and france's 2:06.36, Italy's 2:07.22 (Crippa probably will get that regardless) Mexico's 2:07.19, Brazil's 2:06.04, What about The Women, Does Great Britain's 2:15.25 Get broke? If Hall can run 2:04.58 at Boston on a day the wind is at his back and the shoes are worth 3 minutes, next time Boston has that wind at the back (Which happens every once every 10-15 years) will an American run 2:01-2:02 on the Boston Course?
MOST of the People who got the same shoes Michael Jordan wore, never were able to play as good as Jordan (A little slab at the front page).

Stop making it always about the shoes. You think that maybe athletes are just RUNNING FASTER? Or is that never even a thought.
Do i think some dude who has done next to nothing as a pro, whose career highlight was was 4th at world juniors, is a better marathoner than Haile G? Absolutely not. Remember, it was just 11 years ago that Haile Gs 2:03:59 was the first sub-204 ever.
He’s one of the GOATs of all time and now just 11 years later his times look pedestrian.
I think all else being equal that Adola may have been the best runner in this race. I think some sort of ruling needs to be made by January 1st as to what will be allowed at the 2020 Olympics.
And I feel for anyone not sponsored by Nike at the US Olympic Marathon Trials. If I was Molly Huddle or Des, I’d beg my sponsor to let me tape over the Vaporflys.
And I think Rupp’s bronze from 2016 comes with a big asterisk. What was done in 2016 was unfair and against the rules and the marathon results should be invalidated. But no instead the powers in charge will keep banning or not banning people who eat contaminated beef depending on whether they feel like it.
I think the faster times are partly attributed to simple belief. After Bannister broke 4, which at the time was considered human limits, it was broken frequently, 4 more time in the following year. the training didn't change nor did the shoes. It was belief. The shoes are faster, but the minds of the current runners have also evolved.
"Haven't even checked to see if the top guys and gals were wearing the flys but..."
I'll start a clickbait thread anyway (presumably).
If you notice though MOST of the Good Times are only coming from 2 countries, or athletes not from those 2 countries who train in those Countries Example Moen, Wanders, Robertson Brothers etc. Certainly Wanders is not there for the Altitude as there is lots of altitude in Switzerland. Probably just Superior Coaching more available in those 2 Countries.

Altitude and having somewhere decent to run at altitude are two different things, not to mention quality groups to train with.

My clue dates since April 30 1975 when I began a runner. You seen to miss the biggest clue of all, and I will spell it for you:
Y O U...S T I L L... H A V E ...TO ... TRAIN... H A R D!!!!
Or you think the times come In magically without putting in the hours? If so...Do you still believe in Santa?
Cheptegei is going to drop a 26:2x in Tokyo in spikes and you will all feel ashamed. And then the record attempts will begin.

Lance Armstrong "still had to train hard."
Every shoe acts like a spring. That's why springs aren't banned.

Either pay for the best shoes out there. Or don't. But please stop whinging about how your integrity prevents you from wearing them.

If they weren't wearing the new shoes I'll be happy to stand corrected and looking like a fool fot not looking up the pictures of the shoes.
Can we stop talking about the shoes? You guys are pathetic.

The Next% crushes the marathon easily because there’s never a been a shoe to this point that meets all three key ingredients: lightweight (just enough - many other lighter shoes); efficient to run fast in (again many shoes do this); and super soft stacked cushion. Nike is the first to get all three in one shoe.
Is it easy to bash Nike? Sure is - they are really a heinous company and deserve the hate. But within a couple years, all racing shoes from most brands will be designed like the Next%. It’s not cheating - the shoes are just the first to get all three key elements together in one shoe.
Exactly. I don't understand why some whiners keep starting new threads about these shoes all the time. Track runners don't have to compete on slack like they did in the 1950s and nobody is complaining that Mondo track should be banned.
