He beat a well known black city councilman, Henry Davis Jr. I lived in South Bend know all about him. South Bend's population had been dwindling for generations. The city was full of abandoned homes in poor black and white and Hispanic neighborhoods. "Luxury Housing".....what luxury housing in poor neighborhoods? I guess you are talking about the area immediately across from Notre Dame on Angela Blvd and Eddy St. That's not luxury, its just overpriced homes, condo's and apartments that rich ND alum and students use.

If you weren't from South Bend, you never heard of Mayor Pete, why would someone in South Carolina (which is a rural southern state) know of him? So a poll in South Carolina is the determining factor?

Besides that post where I made a conscious decision to leave up an idiotic post, what other posts do you have a problem with? I don't see any terrible posts and I don't see a lot of rancor on this thread.

Or do you just not like political posts. What is wrong with letting people discuss how a gay mayor of a town that got 8,000+ votes could possible become the most powerful man in the world/ president. It is pretty remarkable.

I didn't believe it as he's one of the front runners for the Democratic nomination and mayor of a "big" city.

Tuns out the article was correct, in the last election Mayor Pete got 8,515 votes. And South Bend is only famous because of Notre Dame. It is actually very small, only 100,000 people live there and not many people vote in the mayoral election.

South Bend is a pretty rough town once you’re off the Notre Dame campus. But then again, so is. Chicago.
