So I think what's important to say about where this frustration is coming from. It's not that everyone at NOP is doping. It's that there was more than reasonable suspicion that Alberto had been shady, and that some of his athletes were definitely breaking the rules since 2015. But when the other athletes either chose to remain with the group or chose to join the group, they were legitimizing and validating NOP and Salazar upstanding coach, and basically saying to the public they didn't believe he was breaking any rules, or they were fine with it. Every athlete who joined that group or remained post 2015 was in some way enabling shady practices in the sport, and they were in a sense ignoring all the whistleblowers, who were trying to say otherwise.
So simply put, you reap what you sow. You don't get to complain about "haters" now. Each athlete made a decision to disregard the integrity of the sport, whether they were clean or not. They are on the hook.

I kinda agree. I mean, no positive test and no technical evidence of doping. People have already made up their minds, conviction or not. It really doesn't matter how this appeal plays out. People have read the news and formed their decisions. People aren't just going to go one sided based on the courts decision.

I am not a fan nor a detractor of Jenny Simpson. I certainly like how she gets after it in races. She sets a good example for everyone in that competitive sense. However, her statement about what running is all about is spot on. I cannot see how anyone would dispute it. Running is not about pharma, it is supposed to be about physical performance. She captures what other competitors are thinking.
So, although Alberto got a rosy review from USADA/WADA about his intent (ie they say there is nothing malicious) he is violating the spirit of competition. Looking for chemical loopholes to get best results from supplements/IVs/etc is less about running and sounds more like doping even if it is not EPO/Testerone/Other banned drugs. Runners ask about training, rest, stretching, weights, etc. Should we now start threads on the chemistry on how to become a champion? If the olympic ideal is physically pure contents, then this strays far from that.

I skimmed the 140-something page USADA decision and found it interesting that the MLB’s steroid czar was one of the “prosecution’s” expert witnesses. If anyone would know about testosterone doping it would be that guy... I wonder how effective the MLB is at curbing doping in that sport, with the orders of magnitude greater financial incentives compared to track, and lack of biological passport, etc.
As a layperson the entire report begged the question: Would any of this stand in an actual (non-Kangaroo court) venue? I understand that those involved in the sport are bound by these arbitration panels or whatever but when you have people like Travis Tygart and Jeff Novitzky at the helm of these organizations I find their conduct as suspect as Salazar’s in terms of doing whatever it takes to win.
The most interesting thing in all this is the sheer pettiness of the most vocal NOP critics and how it reveals that track is the only sport where everyone from the athletes through the governing bodies with their drug-testing lap dogs actively and routinely exhibit pathological levels of Schadenfreude for cannibalizing the sport.
I’m all for clean sport and punishing wrong doing. But if I were Jenny Simpson living in the Mark Wetmore/Jeffrey Brown glass house I’d wield smaller stones or drop them all together. Who knows when the other spike may drop and fragile egos have to cope with what they’ve been projecting.
Jenny is all bad @ss now but would she go off on caster and the whole xy dsd situation? I think not. Whoever said this was just pr for her is correct. Hope she gets popped soon lol
Funny that Jenny calls out nop but doesnt mention many Colorado runners are on documents as visiting the doctor that got banned. Does that make her dirty? It is also from the wada list of probable doping list that got hacked that all the major running groups in the usa are either doping or manipulating things to get up to the allowable limit. Evan Jaegar and many others are on the list.

Does nobody else who watched that video see many key cues in his body language? Shrugs and so many eye shifts: looks down in the middle of giving response, long blinks, puts his hand over his eyes, etc. All the appearance of someone trying to hide something.
