Markus is right. Jim consistently wilts against competition at any distance or surface. He's not the best on trails, and he's not the best on roads. He's a good time trialer on American trails. He's a midpacker in the half marathon and cross country. I don't see him breaking Zach's records, and until he actually runs a good 100k against competition he's not an elite runner.

Since most Americans are at least pre-diabetic by age 50, the most healthful long-term approach is the lowest carb one.

Runners can stay skinny and still have dangerous lurking metabolic disease issues. Three prominent and successful marathon/ultra runners who were lifelong vegetarians have died from heart attacks in their 50s, despite being outwardly fit. Another, Amby Burfoot, has a dangerously high CAC score, albeit in his 70s. Despite omnivores comprising 90+% of all runners, no such top runners have died under similar conditions. Carbs kill, given enough volume and time.

Meanwhile the trillions$ Sick Care Industry, whose profitability relies on slow decay of human health, promotes "plant-based", high-carb intakes as the "healthiest", despite every evidence to the contrary. We are in the midst of a modern plague of obesity and metabolic disease, and it is being fueled by every new food "product" (fake meat being the latest poison offered up as healthy) and every recommendation by agenda-driven entities such as ADA, WHO and FAO, all of whom are corrupt to the core in their bias and funding.

Guess what else increases beta-hydroxybutyrate? A ketogenic (low-carb) diet. But the author denies that what you eat can affect inflammation. Ignorance and pathetic authorship from someone who should know better, but has to toe the party line on diet. The usual tripe that represents the mainstream garbage media (although tripe is far more nutritious than this BS).

It's not that inflammation doesn't exist, it's that it's not the evil cause of all things bad. Author goes on:

I just picked one of many garbage quotes from that garbage article. This idiot has zero perspective on metabolism and disease. Just because inflammation has short-term value it does not negate the catastrophic effects of long-term, chronic inflammation which erodes every system of the body.

Fortunately, there are many doctors, researchers, athletes and just plain intelligent people who are seeing through the smokescreen of bullshit and focusing on the root causes of human health and disease. We have been consistently steered away from the proper human diet for decades (centuries, really) in the interest of profit and dogma, and it is time for those of us who value our health and longevity to be proactive in securing access to the well-raised, well-prepared local whole animal foods which are our heritage as well as our birthright.
