Was Clayton Young held back a year or two in grade school? He is really old even accounting for the extra three years.

Who cares about his age...that was a great thought.

So the path to success is:

hold back a couple of years in high school, graduate at 20 or 21

go on a "religious mission" for two years

go to a college with zero academic pressure

redshirt a year

Not true. I know of a few people who were in horrible car accidents who were in rehabilitation for a year, so they had to take off the entire school year. You need to read the first sentence of the Old codger post, haha.

I was 25 when I won my NCAA title. Nobody cares or has mentioned it? Only want to hate on a talented young man who ran a great race.

By the way I’m pretty sure BYU has had one champion this decade. They’re really running the tables with their scheme.

I graduated high school at 19. I'm an optometrist earning in the top 5% of American income. I'm also the 2006 D1 NCAA 3K Steeplechase champ and a 2008 Olympian. I was 26 when I won it. I went from 148 lbs my college freshman year to 194 lbs as a missionary in Thailand. I ran maybe 5 times in 2 years. Maybe it helped. Maybe if I hadn't gone, I could have made another Olympic team or 2?
