No one brought up the fact that with his explosiveness and more importantly, his STRIDE LENGTH as a tall guy, it's very possible that he has what it takes to run 4:55. He obviously has decent cardio as seen by his ability to hustle on the court.

He wasn't always 275-285, and there's nothing normal about his athleticism.
But keep patting yourself on the back. Just don't break your scrawny ribs doing so.
He, on the court, is way faster than any other 275 lb guys, so I can imagine him being way faster than expected on the track too...

Not a chance!! He has the speed for it but he's too big to have the endurance to hold the pace. Remember the video of all those world class sprinters like Carl Lewis doing an 800m race? I think they all ran like 2:20 and slower, it was pathetic. Not only is Zion not a runner, he is a big guy.
Luke Maye running 4:58 is honestly super surprising - way more than Zion running a 4:55 early in HS when he was way skinnier if you guys don’t know. Not saying I think Zion did necessarily break 5, and I would be floored if he broke 5:30 at his current weight but I don’t see any reason to really doubt it. I’m more interested to see to see how he transitions to the NBA, “analysts” thought Luka’s game wasn’t NBA ready and look what happened. For Zion it’s more about what role he can play, he’s not a ball handler or traditional big man.
