As many others have written, compared to the "average person" it's pretty good. Compared to the "average runner" it's probably well above average. Here, I assume that the "average" (mean or median) finishing time for a typical "race" for the running masses might be in the range of 25-30 min 5k, which is roughly equivalent to a 400 time of 1:45-2:00ish. Your 72s 400 might be more equivalent to something like 18-20 min for 5k. I'm using very wide ranges purposefully, but in any event if you can race 5k under 20 min as a 42 year old man, you would definitely be an above average masters runner, but not especially well above average.
So, I say something like "good, but not very good, and quite distant from excellent"
