Since the specific linear arrangement of amino acids in one function protein would require the universe to "role the dice" roughly 10^70th times to get right, and since an upper estimate of the number of events in the known universe since it's beginning is rough 10^200th, it only takes the existence of 3 functional proteins to outstrip the probabilistic resources of the universe. Even the simplest living cell requires hundreds of proteins to function, Vegas odds would say that if any other life exists (besides what's on earth), it probably exists outside the known universe. If you are open minded, your name for this "extra universal" life is God. If you don't like the idea of God, and want to hold onto your idea that everything is meaningless chance, you can say it exists somewhere in the theoretical multiverse, If you don't pay attention to any of these mathematical realities, you can waste millions of research dollars looking for life on other planets.

Why should we see them? You have nothing to back that up. We can't even remotely see the planets that are a couple light years away. Everything we see about the planets that close is largely guesswork (probably mostly accurate, but still calculated, not-observed guesswork).
So if we can't even see the closest planets to us, why do you think we should see what's going on somewhere else, when there are a hundred billion more that are past those close ones. This is elementary logic—you must actually be retarded or something.
The rest of the universe is exactly like we are, especially the "speed of light" that we assert is a constant, everywhere, at all times.

It is quite possible that advanced life is something we aren’t capable of understanding...yet. A newborn isn’t capable of speaking, reading, writing but with teaching and time will develop these skills.
Perhaps AI will(or has already) achieved an astounding level of intelligence and is bringing us along slowly and nurturing us to a new level of understanding....Think long term development. One does not start out running 100 miles per week. It takes years of training to reach that level.

That's not how it works. Amino acids, which are found in meteorites and thus common within and beyond our solar system, create short-chain oligomers that have catalytic capabilities. I work with people who study the evolution of protein function, and other origins of life topics.
We are close to finding evidence of microbial life within our solar system (Mars, possibly Europa/Enceladus). With the detection of thousands of planets by the Kepler mission, the possibility exists that microbial life in our galaxy and beyond is common.
Not sure about SETI or active SETI, so I won't comment on that except to refer you to the Drake Equation.
I am sooooo excited to find about if Europa does have life. And there is good evidence that it MIGHT.
It would change everything and be such an amazing day. Although like I have been posting above, I am skepital.
There SHOULD be other life as why would humans or earth be soooo special. But I just think we would be teaming with life already if that is the case from the stuff i was saying above.
We can not get to Europa soon enough!!

The Bible certainly has a place as a book of morals in society. But it should very seldom be taken literally. It contains many self conflicting passages, outdated concepts, and outright inaccuracies.
