Krupicka is the only athlete I’ve ever seen that made Gabe Jennings look like he was overstriding lol

Because ultrarunning, more than almost any other sport and chiefly due to its nascent nature, at its top end is full of insecure narcissists of marginal ability. That's just who they are, if they were good enough in high school, college, etc. they'd have found highest reward in racing on track and roads after college. You could easily say that about a simple majority, at worst, at the top of any sport, though. Plenty of insecure narcissism to go around. Lance Armstrong is the epitome of this, everyone else is a milder flavor.

Watching him on Strava, he clearly can’t get himself to slow down long enough and ease back in to running.

Work ethic, yes. Patience, not so much.

Rather than acknowledging he is recovering from an injury and taking a few months to go super slow and rebuild he seems determined to jump back in to where he was. It’s hard to unlearn habits which are so deeply ingrained, but you can’t run the same paces your entire life.

It’s fun to run fast. It’s fun to go long. These are things that require patience and he may need to assess his running goals.

That said, he is still doing some pretty amazing things in the mountains and probably has many good years ahead of him.

Just watch Anton's Instagram feed.

He rides bikes a lot, has actually raced. He does a lot of ski stuff, uphill and down. And climbs.

Anton is up to 75 miles a week again, so injury is right around the corner.

On the positive side, he's not wearing a flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off in this picture (No, I don't know why I'm hating either, I was up in the mountains with fairly modern fabrics on this weekend, too, and I don't have such an awesome tan):

Good for him. Unfortunately I am not very optimistic that this lasts.

Anton should do 40-50 miles per week and he would be still better than 98% of us. But he don't. He does a lot of miles and will get injured soon or later.

Lets wait and see. I hope I am wrong.

If I had a $ for every time he talked about getting 20th place at the Boston Marathon - or setting the course record at White River 50M in 2014, I'd be a millionaire.

A flannel shirt with cut off sleeves would have been an improvement over whatever he's wearing in that picture.

A lot of words can be used to describe Anton, but the two that come to mind most readily, at least for me, are "pretentious" and "insufferable."

While I agree it is funny that Sage talks about his run at Boston all the time, you will never come close to that level.
