You were going for a world record yet your data collecting was a joke.

You also lied you had someone from Lets Run arrested for coming out to follow you, just as you had requested people do, and what is part of the requirement for such a record, ie independent witnesses.

The uk folk seem unaware of the fact it was LRC that began the exposure of Rob Young's cheating and that led to his total downfall.

As for exposing Mimi, not really sure what has been “exposed”, that the tracker was badly managed, that she was uncooperative with people dropping in, but nothing actually exposed about her not genuinely running as far as I can tell.

Rob was well known in the UK marathon world. He was on telly a lot and his scamming went on for years.

He fooled people with his non stop marathon claims and they thought he was a top ultra runner after he won a trans con race.

He was doing legit marathons and ultras too, so people knew who he was.

Mimi has been exposed as not being transparent and a highly unpleasant character, along with her team and husband.

He was amid pack hobby runner, coming well down the field means no one knows who you are, and the novelty most marathons record serious runners couldn't care less about. I couldn't tell you the name of a single runner outside 3:30 in my last marathon. He was not on telly a lot, seriously, a couple of human interest stories don't really count as a lot, he wasn't on the sports news sections. He was a novelty, and not rated highly or even known by all but a very few.

I think you're selling his self promotion a little short. He got into Sports Illustrated (a big magazine in the US), there were awards and vacations, sponsors, his book deal, BBC pieces both on TV and online, and so on...

Not so. I was well aware who Rob Young was. He was all over social media and on the national news many times.

He did at least one 100 miler in around 24 hours so was also known on the ultra scene.

But mainly known for his stunt runs, that we now know were all BS.

Oh, when you said the uk running community were coned for years you meant big US lifestyle magazines, easy to see how that’s the same thing. Same with the Monaco based sports award, how is that the UK running community? Publishers buy stories, not sure how that equates to the uk running community being conned.

It’s a bit like Dean Kanarzes, a slow ultra runner marketed as fast because he does some trail runs and stunt runs. Now there is someone who conned the media for decades that he was the best ultra runner in the world. Remind me, what is his best 100 mike time?

True. A “record” nowadays is conducted via online scripts with trackers that “verify” numbers that these people have never achieved in races. Devices provide more ways to cheat & brag, but there’s only one way run honestly (which usually doesn’t leave time to do much else).
