Likely that's because you don't hear about too many women physically attacking or raping male runners. Sure, I've shrugged off plenty of comments too, but there is a lingering subconscious fear there.
As far as the person who asked what I consider harassment, well think of it like LetsRun, but in real life where people aren't hiding behind a computer. Aside from the usual honks and catcalls (which are often physically threatening), I've been followed by cars and followed by a cyclist who kept asking if I'd come over to his apartment.
Yes, harassment works both ways, to men as well. I've seen male teammates get physically threatened and attacked with beer bottles, etc.
Yes there is a stalking component of harassement that is happening to women way more than men. Its based on the " male chasing female root". Can be observed a Lot for animals as well
