But WVN has run under 10 seconds and under 19.9 early in the season, so he is obviously a speed demon and a 400m runner. It is important to note about 200 times that anything under 19.5 by anybody but Bolt is basically a fluke (maybe Blake to, but he wasn't in good health long enough for us to find out). I'm saying WVN could run 9.8/19.3/42.7 but will probably have carrier best of 9.9/19.5/42.8.

That's 9.57 if run in a perfectly straight line and with drafting

Blake ran 9.69. That's how he was able to run 19.26.

WVN ran 19.84 just warming up into the season and now has a 9.94 and a 43.03 to his name. You cannot deny the possibility of a 19.5 from someone with sub 43 potential.

Let's all remember that Bolt ran his 19.19 into a headwind. With a healthy following wind (especially with his size) he would have broken 19.10.

I do agree that we shouldn't put a cap on what Van Niekerk can do ultimately, but to stay on the conservative side, I see him going 19.7mid with little to no wind and 19.6lo-mid with the maximum allowable.

Smart money would put him at 19.6-19.7 in WCs this year

Which isn't to say that Van Niekerk can't go 19.4 or maybe even 19.3 in perfect shape on a good day (MJ did it after all and Wayde is slightly faster)
