This is why preferably the news organization should take their own pictures, not rely on what's provided.

That would certainly be more sketchy. We are getting off topic, but it'd be more like only having a picture available from an hour before the speech, before the crowds were at full capacity, and then photoshopping in Trump and enough attendees to reflect the actual attendance in place during the speech. And even that isn't a great analogy.

I maintain that what Nike did was a no-brainer and one should feel silly for writing an article about it.

Notice he's broken the tape in the first photo, so unless the tape magically came back together in the next second you have some serious explaining to do.

Yeah, I've got a pic on my phone from standing at the finish line that shows the clock at 2:00:23 and the Kipper already well broken through the tape. And... who cares that they photoshopped it. If that was the official time, so be it. They were just trying to make the media moment look nice and clean.

The reason why the finishing time is higher than what's on the clock is because in road racing you round up. So if you run 2:00:24.1 it's 2:00:25. Now there really isn't a good reason for it to be 2 seconds off. They must not have had the over head clock timed correctly.

If Nike is going to send out an altered image for editorial usage, they should least disclose it.

Because it was sent out under the premise it was an actual image for the event that the media could use. It was not an image from the event. It was altered for marketing purposes. That's not how the media works.

I went and looked at the finish video and it sure does look altered. I'm contacting the photographer.

It would be pretty ironic if the only example cited of this besides the Nike photo was from LetsRun.com. It wouldn't make it acceptable in either circumstance.
