Galen Rupp OUT of Houston Half Marathon with plantar fasciitis

I am really surprised to hear this, he has to train in custom made Nike shoes, that are adjusted to his gait and foot plant.

He has access to all the best facilities with Nike.

Plantar fascia micro tears are very hard to come back from, it takes a lot of time. It can become chronic if he returns too soon to running too fast or too many miles.

Who knows maybe he can do all of his training on the under water treadmill?

I am shocked, SHOCKED, that "DNS Galen" would fail to start this race.

Must have accidentally used three squirts this week.

He needs to get over to the Good Feet Store!

But he's a forefoot striker!

I'm sure Galen Rupp, Alberto Salazar and NOP greatly appreciate all those who have given him advice on how to beat PF. I'm sure they have not tried any of your suggestions, now will, and that will be the difference.

Yep, in fact right now Galen is trying to drive a nail in with the fatty bit by his big toe and walking around on tippy toes. True.

There is only one obvious cause of Galen's plantar fasciitis:

1) another stupid idea by Alberto.

Your comment about Leonard Korir is nice but when Leonard Korir crosses the finish line…rojo will say that Paul Chelimo just won the race with a great sprint over Scot Callum Hawkins.

That was also some nice spelling you did with "plantar fasciitis" which has 2 "i"s in a row in the word "fasciitis".

Rojo would not be able to deal with a spelling like that.

My belief is that they should start looking at your spinal cord for the answer. I believe PF is a nerve problem. Your subconscious brain is telling you to stop Fing running until it can heal. It's doing that by making your feet hurt.

It seems whatever treatment they are doing is not working too well. Drive the nail into the ground and tippy toes!

FMD, give it a chance, you only just posted the cure and he only just started doing it, give it a week (as per your example) and he'll be right.

You are so right. Sorry for my haste to get him back racing. I will offer up this ... most people who do foot strengthening exercises do so at home and will do for 10 minutes maybe max. I would do my "driving the nail into the ground" for 3 or 6 miles of walking - so 45 minutes up to 1.5 hours. Compare that to 10 minutes of home exercises. I think that is why my way was so effective.

I was able to cure my PF by taking 18 months off, and then never running more than about 30 mpw again.

No joke.

It's because he's going to jump into Dubai to face off against Bekele. Hall's record was too soft and he knew he needed to do bigger things that go after a cross-fitter's records
