Interesting discussion about squatting. After three decades of endurance training I began to lift eight years ago. At the time I couldn't air squat to parallel, and it took me a couple of years to be able to squat 135 to parallel. After eight years I'm up to 305 to parallel. Deadlift is still not much more than that. Had I to do it over again, I'd have spent some of my time squatting during those three decades, as I am much more balanced and fit now than I was when I was training at a high volume.
