In the video, Ed talks about the very good idea of Ed running a sub 7:00 minute mile…which is exactly the same idea...as my very good idea of Ed running a sub 7:00 minute mile.

Ed's uncle was the oldest man in Britain when he died at the age of 108.
I would like a sample of Ed's mitochondria, mitochondrial DNA, and nuclear DNA.
However…Ed is scared of needles…and runs away whenever I try to get a sample from him.
My new plan is:
1) I am going to sneak up from behind Ed and surprise him before he can run away.
You've had an attention deficit but that's ok.
Ed will detect you because you are slow for him. But, as he solely runs in circles, you just need to stay put and shoot him on his way back while he drinks a few sips on the graveyard fountain.

Maybe you could add a little EPO in the syringe to simulate some altitude training that he stubbornly refuses to perform.

I don't know whether to feel good about his running.
Obviously it's great for him but I hurt thinking about doing that in any advanced years.
He's incredible.
I'd love to know what the heck Ed was wearing on his feet! Those shoes look like they were made in the '80s!

That is the information I gave to some interviewer. On reflection they are probably nearer 20 years old. After starting to wear this pair I continued using an older pair for a while before retiring that pair. I still have two other pairs of the same model one a bit worn and the other not used.
The reason I like them is they are more flexible than modern racing flats and they seem to be narrower. I ran this weekend's race without socks, the first time I have tried that in a marathon. No blisters or discomfort.
I cut a wedge out of the heel and glued the wear surface back down. I did this because when I run distance races I wear off the heels. It seems to me this must be acting as a slight brake and maybe a little bit of inefficiency.
