Each mid-distance elite does a significant amount of precisely measured interval work on a standard track. That's the point.
Maybe you don't NEED to run exactly 200.0 meters. I do NEED to train with exactly 200.0 meters.
Maybe your body does not know distance. My body does know distance. It certainly knows if I ran 220 meters or 180 meters.
I'm evaluating myself by how fast I run 800.00 meter race, not how much effort it takes to run 2 minutes and not how far I run with a certain effort level.
No, each elite mid distance person does not. I myself and a few others I know often did speedwork by time not precise track measured distances.
No, you don't NEED exactly 200 meters. You WANT exactly 200 meters.
No, your body does not know distance. There are no rulers or gps in your cells. Your body knows effort and time.
Your last paragraph makes no sense. We are talking about 200m intervals. Why are you bringing up 2 minutes or 800 meters?
You do not have the luxury of being able to use a track. Instead of using common alternatives, you choose to be stubborn and irrational.
