If you cannot distinguish between match delaying tactics, mind games, and style of football a particular team is using then you don't much about the sport or any other sport for that matter.

For the Record there are more girls playing soccer in this country than there are girls in the 16-22yo age group, in total, in Sverige.

Yep. I wonder if she calls USMNT cowards as they frequently must play the defense/counter attack style in major tournaments.

The hilarious part is that USWNT often plays physically overmatched opponents who often aren't full time professional athletes. USWNT's often used strategy is to play strong defense and constantly launch the ball downfield and try to run/muscle past the slower opposition defence or pressure the defense into catastrophic mistakes. That style is also ugly as h*ll to watch and requires less skill. In fact it's exactly how USA scored against Sweden, a complete fluke of a goal. The improperly flagged goal was another example with the USA player tossing aside the Swedish defender. Sweden won it in classic style. Solo should've congratulated them on executing their plan perfectly.

I attended the USA vs Brazil in the '94 World Cup Semi-final (Stanford Stadium). It was the strategy of the USA team to strictly play defense to try to end the game with a 0-0 tie and decide the game on penalty kicks.

By the end of the first half the score was 0-0 and the Brazilian players were hopping mad. In the second half they picked up their play a notch and managed to score on goal. Final score 1-0.

Sweden should have won in regulation, but the officials made a terrible offsides call. Really sick of the women's soccer team. Suing the country which has consistently provided substantially more resources to you than any other nation has given their women's team. Equal pay in soccer is absurd, men's team is easily 100x more competitive and the best players need financial incentive because they can make great money playing for clubs. The only rationale was that they were drawing a big audience in the World Cup. 2014 will likely be the peak for interest in women's soccer in the states. Sport is getting more competitive so they are no longer going to always make the finals, they've filled the team with no shortage of primadonnas which no likes to root for, and the us cable channels are upping their coverage of professional men's leagues every year, which will satiate those looking for a soccer fix(a sizeable percentage of the women's World Cup audience). They want the fame/celebrity/wealth of Landon Donovan, but they, with few exceptions, would crack under the pressure and attrition that a men's national team player goes through in his youth to make it to the World Cup.
