British 3.39 1500 runner failed doping test in Belgium and UKA covered it up

It is very unlikely that a 3:39 runner dopes. When you run 3:39, you are only running for fun. I would hate to be one of these 3:39 guys and wrongfully suspected to use PED. The is zero way that you can disprove it.

I think that it's fair to speculate on pros. Because of their status, they are "public" figures and can expect it. Wrongfully accusing a 3:39 guy however... That makes your "fun" sport no "fun"...

I think I should clarify a few points that have been made as this is turning into a witch hunt, when the underlying issue is UKA/UKAD taking steps to cover up a positive from a 'nobody':

- this is not a wind up or gossip

- the athlete in question knew that he was taking a performance enhancing inhaler that he didn't require at all

- the said athletes coach and training group were fully UNAWARE what the athlete was doing. As soon as said coach was informed of the news, all ties were cut immediately.

- the said athlete has improved his PB further this year, despite failing the test 12 months ago

- the Belgian authorities were thorough in seeking disciplinary action against the athlete from UKAD. However, UKA manipulated the advice a medical test, which shows whether or not a patient needs this medication, bringing the results into the 'grey zone'. Whereby the conclusion provided by the test conductors stated the athlete might need the specific inhaler on certain grounds. Despite the first set of results/conclusion showing that the said athlete would never need to take this inhaler

- UKAD have since turned a blind eye to a member of the said athletes group trying to get answers on why a ban never happened and why this wasn't made public knowledge

The question that bothers me about this case is why are UKA covering for a good domestic athlete who will probably never go to a major games?

I am aware of what appears to be a systematic use of TUEs by UKA at the moment. Did they believe this case may be the straw that broke the camels back? IE the substance in question is the new meldonium?

Brojos - if you want more background on this please let me know where to email. This needs to be investigated further as it is hard to imagine this is the only case of it's kind in recent times.

Looks like UKA learned their lessons well from NOP.

As for "state-sponsored doping" in Kenya, proof? And not just a bunch of third-tier wannabes who failled tests because that does not constitute systematic state sponsored doping. Lack of funds and resources to conduct adequate testing is NOT systematic doping. We wish the Kenyan government was as involved and invested in sports as the Russian and British governments are. But they're not because they can't afford it and have more pressing problems like healthcare, housing, education and hunger to deal with. Personally, I find it suspicious that Britain went from having just one gold medal in Atlanta 1996 to beating the Russians in 2012.

We've always been better runners than you folk, and it kills you so much that all you have left is to drag Kenya into this as a distraction. Here we have a clear example of wilful cover up by UKA, which means they're probably doing the same for others because you as a people are just not athletically gifted enough to produce genuine world-beaters.

Knowing nothing about the case at all, it seems the bullets from Undercover contain "facts" in the first four bullets...

and then some degree of speculation (to which there might be alternative scenarios) in the next two bullets. These are the key ones which we either may feel entitled to clarity on OR (if there was no contravention of the rules) we may *feel* entitled to but won't get clarity on as "innocence" is deemed to be something which is kept confidential.

If the first four facts are true, then it is certainly interesting and worthy of further comment / investigation.

First of all I spent a summer traveling around the UK about 12/13 years ago and I must say that it was great to see how serious the club scene was for the likes of us who aren't professional. A vicious cycle ensued where they are incentivized to turn the other way to anything suspicious so they keep their funding for next year. Is the UK dirtier than Russia? Not even close. But is there something suspicious going on, definitely!! But remember the US hasn't had a clean sprinter run sub-10 for the 100m since the 1968 olympics (which were at altitude don't forget).

This is a 'clear example' of nothing at all. This story has absolutely no evidence behind it whatsoever.

This ridiculous post getting any attention at all is 'clear evidence' of only one thing: many posters on this site, yourself included, are racist towards British people. I have never posted anything inflammatory about Kenyan people. I have only ever stated that based on a lack of drug testing and many positives from Kenyan runners that Kenya appears to have a PEDs problem. There is no racism there.

UKAD is the name. That's the point. The runners are small potatoes. It's the ADAs and the universally corrupt federations that need to be dismantled.

Hardly a defeat for Corbyn, one of the main reasons Remain lost the referendum was because Corbyn didn't put his back into the campaign and has always been a Eurosceptic.

I don't understand what marxist Corbyn has to do with this thread, unless he has been colluding with UK athletics can we please keep this discussion serious.

It seems that there are a couple of serious whistle blowers coming forward and witnessing examples of a low level cover up by British athletics. Surely an anti-doping website like Lets Run should be looking to investigate this but still no word from the brothers johnson.

If I were the guys who trained and were betrayed by this fella i'd have contacted some real athletics journalists by now.
