Also it's utterly hilarious how all you Americans are whining about the BBC feed!
Watch your own instead of leeching. Oh, sorry I forgot, yours is shite.

Under IAAF rules, she was not permitted to quit.
She is a young athlete and was very, very upset with herself over the LJ.
Why don't you give her a break and look at it from her perspective?
Her sportsmanship sucks.
In 10 years, she'll look back and regret this disgrace.
Give your best.
UTTER BULLSHIT.
Equally feasible, she runs the 800 all out and loses an LJ medal by a cm.
What would you regret more 10 years down the line?
This whole thread is laughable. Whoever started it should be banned.

Absolutely. Rojo should ban himself. If you can't otherwise stop talking shit you should be banned. Unbelievable...

That's the bad example Mo has set. John-Thom goes after her idol already. she only forgot to kick at the end, otherwise it would have been a perfect race.

My final line was sarcasm. That's the sound of something flying over your head.

The reason I misunderstood you was because that makes no sense. If it's sarcasm then you don't think the thread is a joke and that you agree with rojo. But otherwise your post seemed to disagree with rojo. Now I don't know what to think about your post. Because if you agree with rojo, then you're as dumb as him.
Huh? Who is "him"? How did "him" come into this discussion?

She had scored zero in the long jump. Think about it. There are only seven events in the heptathlon, of course.
And she has another event coming up.
That is like someone falling hard and getting over 100m behind in an 800, then asking them to race flat-out on their own.
Just silly.

I disagree with rojo and think he's talking rubbish.
I said I think he should be banned but as I know that he's the owner of the site I know that wouldn't happen. A weak joke I know but a joke nevertheless.
Hope that's clear enough, over and out.

That is clear. I did understand the joke in the first place, that's why I said rojo should ban himself. But it's all good. Rojo is truly an idiot.

THEN DON'T ENTER BOTH EVENTS.
I think the honest-effort rule is a joke and leads to farces like this "run" and Mahkloufi's 800 in London.
But it is a rule, and she broke it. She should be DQed from the long jump due to obvious lack of honest effort.

That's just stupid. Do you also think Carl Lewis should have been DQ in 1984 olympic long jump final? KJT had already lost the event and needed to save energy. Do you also think running athletes who take it easy at the end of the race should be DQ?

No. Try reading it (again?)

I just watched the IAAF feed of it and I have changed my mind. That was a disgusting display by Johnson-Thompson, and the British commentators on the IAAF feed are disgusting people.
American heptathlete Barbara Nwaba also had a zero-score, in the hurdles (the FIRST EVENT). Yet she still went hard in every other event.
Nwaba actually went flat-out in the 800, at least trying to do something special (possibly her 2:07 PR was on her mind). She went through 400 in 61, miles ahead of the crowd, and the British commentators spent the entire lap literally laughing out loud at her as she slowed down. (They kept saying she would be caught. She wasn't, crossing the line first, which is a good look for a sponsored athlete.)
Meanwhile, Johnson-Thompson literally walked in a child's time of 2:50, and they applauded her for a "courageous display" or some BS.

She made that choice and I'm presuming she had no other events to compete in so thought she may as well enjoy the experience instead of just pulling out after the first event.
I think, in multi-events, if you get a zero score and are effectively eliminated from the competition (not officially, but realistically) you can compete the remaining events however you choose (or pull out, but this isn't an option if you have other events to come.)

Terrible! If you're in danger of a No Mark you should not be cutting it close! Just take a safe jump!
