I use to run with some guys who'd try and get off leash dogs to run with us. We took a few dogs on some long runs. One dude got pretty pissed and hustled home got a bike and caught up to us. He couldn't really say a whole lot being there were several of us, but that was about the only time anyone gave us grief. Most dogs would just go home after a short distance.

A dog attacked me a few times and the owner was oblivious, so the next time it attacked me and then started to turn around, I got it to keep chasing me more. After a half mile, the dog was getting tired, the owner drove up in a car, and I never saw that dog out again.

Any dog attacking a person can be dangerous.

I saw a medium sized dog run up and trip a woman from behind who was walking around the track, causing her to fall forward flat on her face. Then it charged around the track looking for more people to knock down. Even if a dog is not considered dangerous, it can trip people up, cause accidents and even fatalities.

Some Pugs are born aggressive, whereas other Pugs are made that way. Any Pug can become disruptive under certain situations. Your pet may have a bad response to one specific incident or to a particular person. Changing the situation can correct the problem.

Let's face it, all Pugs are not friendly to all people. Some Pugs can be very mean, hostile, and even dangerous.

I made deliveries in a rural mountainous area for 10 years and had to deal with unleashed dogs on a daily basis.

I always carried dog biscuits which worked wonders, but was still bitten four times.

Every dog that bite me was a little yapper. Each bite drew blood, but none required stitches.

Twice the owners came out the front door. When I said, "Your dog just bit me," both replied, "My dog doesn't bite."

Then I showed them the blood.

Small dogs are the most aggressive. Plus there is always the danger of tripping over them.

I've never kicked a dog, but I have no problem with people who do.

No leash. No muzzle. Crapped all over the place. Hello Rainbow Bridge.

If it had been my dog, the news story would have read differently. Even if the dog had not been on the leash, I would have beat that guy to death, probably with one of his own limbs...well not really, though I would have beat him until feces came out of him. And, yes, you can really beat someone that bad. (Well, I can)

Is it bad that I've always secretly wanted to be attacked by a (not incredibly threatening) dog while running so that I can justify kicking it? Not enough to kill or injure it of course. A man in my hometown was killed by 2 dogs while trying to get away from them on a bike. In all seriousness if I honestly feel threatened by a dog, I'm going to try to scare it away, and it that doesnt work, I'm going to attempt to defend myself since I consider any human life more important than that of a dog.

I'm frequently chased by dogs of all sizes while running out in the country. They run off properties to give chase or follow me on paths where most owners do not bother to leash them. I've never felt threatened enough to kick but it can be a nuisance with persistent dogs. For me, its the way a dog approaches. I've never been bit but I say dogs that aren't vicious won't make a direct run for you (giving away their intentions). They usually start veering a little to play or try to chase you off.

That being said, I would sooner kick a dog than let it bite me. I'll put up with it breaking my stride since I don't want to trip over it and my runs aren't important enough to worry about losing a few seconds.

The vast majority of running dogs display docile body language. Even the ones that are hostile are far more likely to stop and bark and harass you than try to bite.

Dogs are quite predictably harmless. If they weren't, there wouldn't be so many living among people. When you hear news of dog attacks, it's news because it's the exception that proves the rule. An unleashed dog running around isn't cause for alarm.

No, that pug next door was a mean dog, and he for sure tried to bite us when he got out of his yard. I was a teenager, so not really a "little" kid.

Also, I'm sure the guy didn't intend to kill the dog. He kicked it away and it died. it's not like he kicked it and then went after an injured dog and then stomped it to death.

Doesn't matter if the dog is an ankle biter or not. If the word "biter" is in there, then that dog needed to be on a leash.

Again, I wouldn't have done what he did, but the fault of this lies with the dog's owner. She felt that she was above the law. Judge Judy would rip that dog owner apart. "Is there a leash law at that park?" [Yes your honor] "Was the dog on a leash?" [No your honor, but I was about to...] "Judgement for the defendant!"

Finally, is that runner a tool? Perhaps. The dog owner gave him a way to show it though. 100% her fault.

Cool. Next time your meter expires, I'm going to destroy your car with a sledgehammer. While I'm at it, maybe I'll look for code violations at your house and burn the place down once I find one. I suppose you'll think that the fault lied 100% with you because you broke the law. It is your assertion that violation of a minor municipal ordinance makes you 100% to blame for whatever insane response anyone chooses, right?
