Isn't it a little odd that they didn't have drug testing at a Diamond League event, with prize money and DL points on the line? Shows what I know about drug testing. I assumed we were at the point where all important events had testing for the top 3. The mark is even listed as the "Area Record" on the IAAF website. No wonder so many cheats don't get caught.
It doesn't matter. She'll run faster next year. And then she'll be prepared for drug test too.

They don't automatically test every finisher. The winner and usually 1 or 2 others among the top finishers are tested. But anyone can request a test, as she should have done.
Who cares WTF SH and her band of idiots "recognizes". Any true track and field fan, including Jenny, knows the AR is currently held by Emma.
She'll likely break it again this summer and will run sub 9 in RIO so it won't matter in the end.
Do we know for a fact the reason her record application went into the deferred pile was because of the drug testing issue or is that still speculation?

It wasn't deferred, it was rejected, and I confirmed with someone on the records committee that it was because of the lack of drug testing.

Isn't it ironic that Jenny Simpson officially the 3000m steeplechase record because someone didn't take a drug test, but she doesn't have the 1500m record because she's behind a drug cheat?
Wonder if NB makes her repay her $50K bonus for the AR?

This was a black and white case.
As much as it sucks, the rules require a drug test if you want to set a steeplechase record and have it ratified. This is a well-known thing that is clearly published on the USATF website. It is unfortunate that Emma didn't know. It's unfortunate she didn't have an agent to tell her. It's odd that her coach didn't think of it, I find it hard to believe he didn't know, but I don't know all of the circumstances, and sometimes people forget stuff.
There are times that USATF favors Nike athletes and discriminates against non-Nike athletes, but this wasn't one of them.
