First if all look at the times in between them and look at how law I has done in the world stage he sucks galen would dominate him in any distance by a lot so there u have it galen is better simple as that.

Galen Rupp has an Olympic silver medal in the 10k, multiple national titles, and a 26:44 10k. Galen Rupp would win.

He won his 10k leg in Chiba Ekiden two years ago. He also lost to Webb in Turkey Trot in 2010. Which one is he closer to right now?

I think that it interesting how these threads always happen when there is a change of reign in the NCAA. I'm betting the OP is a pretty young guy, high school or so, who is just now following the NCAA. There's nothing wrong with that, just a guess really. The fact of the matter is that when Lawi came in and won XC his freshman year people thought he would dominate the next 4. He didn't win another. When Kennedy came in and dominated XC, and Indoor 5K people thought he was going to run train for a while. And now there is King Ches. And yeah, he's a phenomenal talent and a very good runner with very good speed, which is rare. But it remains to be seen if he will be able to maintain it/ stay healthy, or if another giant will come along and take him down. I mean Lawi ran 13:00 before his senior year (beating Galen) and I remember thinking that its pointless for him to even come back to college. Then Ches came and made him look silly in a couple races and the NCAA became fun again. I'm just saying, the kids good, unbeatable... no. And he wouldn't even sniff Rupp's crack in any kind of fast race.

LOL: Rupp's jock suckers are out in force in this thread. Cheserek is more accomplished as a soph than Rupp was.

Clearly the people on this post are cherry picking facts. Yes Cheserek is about -18 months older then most of his peers. But while running XC in NJ, he crushed a hallowed course record with plenty of D1 stars like Craig Forys, the Rosas.. Taking down Holmdel ... He also crushed Manhattan 2.5 where the likes of Brad Hudson and Donn Cabral. He went not a run his senior beating anyone and everyone in XC. He also won FL at that point .. His track times at 800 and 1600 aren't as strong but he also set the two mile high school record so it's not like he came out of no where, he best Galen highs cool two mile time. He was the top recruit coming out just like the Rosas and Galen. He did this at an underfunded small private school, with no real possessions when he left Kenya. So yeh going to Oregon wih a proven coaching staff versus a neophyte high school program will provide benefits, also added benefit of new training aides, their own track, and better food also will contribute. When I ran in college got access to better coaching and food it made a huge difference. So maybe instead of immediately thinking doping or being so disparaging about his age look at it from the standpoint of witnessing something special. Granted right now Cheserek is really a better XC runner then track world beater and maybe over time will challenge Rupp's time but in 3k up to 10K Rupp will beat him.. I think it might be interesting on an XC course.

Really? 3k up to 10k? Not including the mile or anything beyond 10k? You think Ches can run a 3:50 or a 60:30 on a hilly half course? Rupp wins at every distance.

Rupp routinely closes 10k's in 52 seconds now??? To my knowledge, he has closed a race in 52 twice in his life, 2012 Trials and Olympics. Ches dominates 13:18 guys like his teammate Jenkins but he has also beaten Lawi, a 13:00 guy, several times, and yes, Lawi has beaten Rupp. So, while Rupp could beat Cheserek in some races now, like a paced 10000m on the track, Cheserek would blow his doors off in a sit and kick 5000m and there are other situations in which he would also win. But wait until Cheserek turns pro and see whether he runs low 12:50s or better. Right now, he is far above a very high quality NCAA group and he is taking it easy.

In two years if Ches stays that long. Hopefully Malmo will be writing an ode to Ches posts at least I hope so.As he continues to put out stuff on 26 year old Henry thrashing 18-23 year olds, when he was a college guy..

As he will have 4 NCAA XC titles, no one can beat him, and so what if he is old now? So was henry rono.and by a billion years even older than Mormons at BYU or UTEP.

What I was saying was as they stand now... Cheserek will beat him between 3K-10K, I was not considering halfs, marathons, etc. I also wasn't considering 800m, 1500m, Mile, but in those cases you can turn it into a tactical race like Leo Mazzone, but that said I also don't think they would race in that distance, so they I was just considering distances 3K-10K and if they ran now he would loose to Galen in all cases on the track for the foreseeable future until Cheserek Matures. I was saying he has shown continued improvement and not topping out like you see from some highschool runners as they transition to college running.
